Re: Hummmming noise in front end

It has to be the tires. The tread design makes a humming noise.

Re: Hummmming noise in front end

Polak, do you have the issue also?

My thoughts were if it was tire noise, it would change pitch with speed. Mine seems too high pitched for tire noise, and it doesn't change pitch with speed from what I can tell.

Re: Hummmming noise in front end

My Laredo is doing it, sounds like a bad bearing but I know that's not what it is. But the sound is a high pitch whine but not what I would call loud. Possibly from wind blast, it's only does it when it's up to highway speed. Or at least that's when I notice it, not even every time I drive.

Re: Hummmming noise in front end

I assume everyone with the problem has 4x4s?

BTW, I did check my bearings by wiggling the tires, and no play whatsoever, so bearings should be fine.

I noticed I don't have a rubber bushing thing on my front drive shaft near the differential. I have one in the rear, but not front. Figure they wouldn't have forgotten something like this though.

Re: Hummmming noise in front end

I have the same issue. I noticed it on the highway around 65-70 mph. It does it on grooved concrete surface. I also feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel when it happens. I have 3500 miles on it and I'm either getting use to it or it's not as noticeable. Thought I'd wait for something major to happen before taking it to the dealer and getting the "that's normal" answer. Overland 4x4 v8.

Re: Hummmming noise in front end

I had humming/whining noise up front too. Mine was just low on power steering fluid. Don't make something big out of something small.

My power steering reservoir is filled to the line.

And I'd rather not be preached to by someone that hasn't experienced the issue.

Wiggling the wheels will only tell you if the bearings are loose. They can still make noise if they are not properly lubricated and have not worn enough to be loose yet.

Lol. Excuse me trying to help. Don't post shit if you don't want opinions. That's what this forum is about. And I did have a similar issue with humming that turned out to be power steering fluid.

Anyway....hope you solve the issue. Hope your WK doesn't fall apart.

Thanks.
