HVAC "Auto Mode" questions

I believe I am having some issues with my HVAC system when set to auto mode and hoping someone can provide more info.

I live in MN and purchased a 2012 GC Overland September 2011. Love the vehicle. During the winter, I'm failry certain that when I wasin the auto mode, the AC light would be on the whole time. I also had to keep the temp button set in the upper 70's (typically 78) in order for no cold air to blow out the vents. Figured this wasno big deal and that I would get it fixed when I had other warranty issues to have done. Now tht it is summer, when I have the auto mode on, the AC light is not illuminated. Cold air does seem to come out the vents so it appears to be working.

My question - is this normal? When you have you auto mode on and it is 90 degress outside, is you AC light illuminated?

Dealer said everythign worked as it should. I'm just double checking. Chrylser Corp said the AC light should be illuminated.

Thanks -

Same as others. No a/c light in auto mode.

Could be to keep that the compressor needs to run periodically to keep the seals in the A/C system from drying out if you don't use it all winter. I know my old Pontiac Grand Prix ran the A/C in auto mode unless the outside temperature was below something like 38 degrees Fahrenheit for that reason. Realize I'm comparing apples to oranges, here...

In auto mode on Jeep, a/c and heat works to keep temp. at desired setting. The a/c light will not come on in auto mode even if it is on. Air conditioning turns on every time you turn on defrost. It helps remove condensation from the window quicker and works with the heat. I use it every morning here in the winter.
