HVAC blower died temporarily

Well, I had my first really annoying problem today. On a road trip about 125 miles from home on the interstate, with temps in lower 30s, the heater quit blowing. Didn't matter which vents I set it to, or what temp I set it at, or whether manual or auto. I did the radio reset, hoping that would help, nothing. Warm air was oozing out of whatever vent I selected, but no blower motor, no matter what speed I set it to. It was starting to get a little chilly, but had the seat heaters and steering wheel heater on, so not too bad yet. I was starting to get a little window fogging, so that had me a little worried. Luckily we came to a rest stop before things got bad. I pulled in and shut it down and opened the door to let everything shut down, and waited a few minutes. When I restarted the engine everything was working properly again. I switched back and forth between all the settings, and changed the temp and blower speeds. All good. Made it home with no further incident, and went out again this evening, with no problem. I'm sure service won't find anything, so I'll wait to take it in for planned service. I'll tell them so they can check for a code. Wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone else here?

Happened to me in the Dart about 6 months ago. Just out of nowhere...

Been good ever since.

Re: HVAC blower died temporarily

One time in the middle of the summer. It was a hot day and no blower. Like you I tried all the settings to no avail. But, the next day and ever since it has been good. I never mentioned it to the dealer.

I had this happen this summer ... middle of July on I-75 in Georgia and it was a hot day. Like you, it eventually did come back. Dealer did find an issue and had to replace something in the blower system... I can't remember what exactly.

Re: HVAC blower died temporarily

Not too much fun huh?

This sounds exactly like what happened to my 2011. It happened a few times and then went away, finally it happened and did not go away. They replaced the HVAC control panel and all is well...so far...

Re: HVAC blower died temporarily

I have to say that getting the MaxCare Lifetime service contract seems like a great idea if you're keeping your Jeep for a while.
