HVAC Issue

Ever since I had the HVAC update done a few months ago, my system has never acted the same. I have always had the temp on AUTO on 68 and rarely ever having to change the temp. I noticed an issue not long after it was done and did talk with the Service Manager. He gave me the "that's normal operation, but we can take a look at it if you would like." I said I would see how it goes but now with the temps around 40-45 in the morning, I'm not happy. The defrosters won't come on nor does the fan go up while driving to warm up the inside. After I manually had the defrosters on this morning, I put it back on AUTO and the temp at 70. Fan never got more than 1 and when I turned AUTO off, it was blowing air to the floor vents. This isn't right at all. Your thoughts?

Unhook the negative battery cable for 30+ minutes then put it back on. Sometimes it can help solve electrical gremlins induced by flashes. It fixed mine after the HVAC flash and also after the BCM flash. Flashing can interrupt the module chatter with each other causing strange effects, pulling the cable lets every thing reset and come back up graceful. The only personnel things I have noted that it erases when you do it is the equalizer settings which are quick to put back.

I too am interested in this. I have been leery of the HVAC flash as I don't want other issues.

My HVAC, when the outside temps are H.O.T. doesn't function well after a while. The max fan doesn't blow (even though it was a few minutes before) as hard and the temp is luke-warm.

Oh, I never use AUTO as I prefer the LO setting most of the time her in So Cal.

Is the flash a fix for this and is it free or could it be covered under an aftermarket extended warranty?

I noticed the HVAC flash doing the most good in the winter but it did also help summer operation. The hvac flash fixed eratic operation and wild temprrature swings. My summer ac operation never felt as cold as it should, recently I had it checked and found it was under charged from the factory, they recharged it and all good now. Seperste issue but that could possibly be your issue if it just does not feel cold enough in summer.

Concerning the hvac flash if you are in range of the dates on the tsb and within your warranty it should be covered. Tsb was for 2014 GCs

I'm calling tomorrow to get my Jeep in and have that done. It was 25 degrees here this morning and I had it on AUTO set to 70. The fan was blowing at my feet at lowest fan for over 15 minutes. Kind of gets cold in the car and I'm tired of having to play with this damn thing. Hopefully this new RRT will fix the issue.

Yep, the jeep went in yesterday. The service manager saw me and said "Did we fix this issue a few months ago?" I told him that he can think so but it hasn't been the same since the 1st HVAC update and here were the new issues. They had the jeep all day and did the RRT as well, recalibrated it, and tested. They couldn't see anything wrong (go figure). For a few minutes after getting it back it seemed like it was working as it should but then it went back to old ways. 56 degrees outside and the inside set at 70, set to AUTO. Turn Auto off and it has the A/C on and blowing in my face at fan 2. I don't know where they get it that it is right but that isn't. I'll wait for the customer survey to come and I'll report it on there. If I have to, take it to a different dealership to be looked at.

Mine is opposite. Climate set on 73F. 72 blows ice cold air. 74 will roast a turkey.
Had the most current flash performed. I generally remote start, but am inside the vehicle within 30-45 seconds of doing so. Has been almost the exact temp in the mornings when I start it. Get in one morning, and fan is blowing so hard that I felt like the guy from the Maxxel cassete tape commercial from back in the day... with heat coming from defrost and foot untill I press the start button then it switches to low speed fan. Get in next morning, fan on #1 and full heat coming from vent only. 3rd morning, fan on #1 and lead smelting heat coming from defrost and floor vents. Get in vehicle about an hour later and the air coming from the vent is 60-65ish.

My 2011 HVAC operation was perfect. This one is a far cry from being comfortable without having to constantly adjust the driver & passenger temp. Output temperature is very erratic. From driving the vehicle through out the day, sometimes when you get inside, it's quite pleasant. Other times when you enter the vehicle, I honestly think the heater is trying to kill me.

I brought up a concern on MY15 Overland twice with the ac/heater. Took it in for my first oil change at 5k because I was going to be towing my boat from Phoenix to Lake Powell and wanted fresh oil. I told them that I could hear a funny sound coming from under the passenger side of the dash. They didn't hear anything. 2 months later I took it in because the blower motor would blow intermittently. It would be working fine, and then just shut off, sometimes for a couple days. Then on the way to the dealer it starts working again...go figure! Again, they found nothing wrong since it performed as normal while they had it. 2 weeks ago, it went out again along with my Uconnect screen. I could hear the radio and navigation but I could not turn the volume up or down or anything..no response from the screen. I couldn't even turn it off. I shut the vehicle down a few times and restarted and still nothing. This happened on our way to a wedding. After the wedding I got in and started it up and everything was fine. Then this past Saturday, it went out again. I drove straight to the dealer to show them proof. My advisor took it back to the shop foreman and he saw for himself that it wasn't working. Set up an appointment to be dropped of yesterday morning because they were getting ready to close when I got there and they are closed on Sundays anyways so no point in leaving it there. They have it now and I'm waiting to hear back from them.
