I am Out of Here

Well as some of you know or have read I went through a horrible buy back experience with my 2014 Summit 4X4 eco diesel. It was finally replace with a 2015 NON 4X4 V8 Summit. After ~7200 miles I just couldn't take being in this Jeep or having a dealership we hate service it. We even have FREE oil changes and didn't use any of them. Good Bye Jeep and GOOD BYE Chrysler!! We will NEVER be back!!!

We went to a whole other class of vehicle and price range. Porsche Cayenne Turbo. We looked there first but got wowed by all the bells and whistles of the Summit. We just didn't realize those bells and whistle don't always work and Chrysler has no idea how to fix them.

I wish all you the best of luck and many happy miles motoring!! We just could not take it any more.

Re: I am Out of Here

So wait I'm confused. So the replacement 2015 had issues as well? It's too bad you got a bad one, I am on my third WK2 and they have all been flawless. Love them!
Congrats on the Porsche and good luck.

Re: I am Out of Here

First off, it is truly unfortunate that you had such a bad experience with FCA and Jeep....Twice!! With 5k miles on my first ever Jeep, a '15 High Altitude, I am loving it. I wonder, though, how you jumped to the Cayenne Turbo. I decided not to spend a penny over $110,000 for my car and the Porsche lists at about $114. You could have gotten a loaded Grand Cherokees, a spare loaded Grand Cherokee, a couple of spare sets of tires, lots of fuel and maintenance and a part time driver. Well, maybe I'm just envious. If I got the Porsche, and managed the price, the divorce would definitely bankrupt me and she would probably get the Porsche, too.

Re: I am Out of Here

Hey...I spoke too soon. MSRP starts at about $114k. With options, I think it grows about another 10-15K. Ouch!

Re: I am Out of Here

This is not my first Porsche. I have a 911 turbo also. That is why we looked at the Cayenne first but my wife hated all the buttons and it was her car (happy wife, happy life). Yes an oil change is $300 and tires for this beast will be $2k but it will run and run and run. We had a lot of equity in our Jeep because our 2014-2015 swap. So, the pill was not as hard to swallow. Porsche also stand behind their vehicle too. The have been highly rated for years in customer service and quality. That matters. I am not talking ass kissing either. Just wow there is an issue. We WILL get it fixed.
Now I have had my share of Chrysler products too. Plymouth horizon, Plymouth voyager LX van, Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Durango, and a 1999 Chrysler 300 (lemon). All were purchased new except the horizon and the truck. The horn on the 300 went out in the first week. That should have been a sign. Chrysler makes some good looking vehicles and you get a lot of options for your money but when it goes bad. It goes bad in a hurry and they just don't seem to have their crap together on how to fix it. As it is going bad their customer service seem to go south too. Never once did we get nasty or make threats. You just don't win when you do. Thank goodness I did document the hell out of it because several promises were broken and not going to be kept until I provide them with the proof of their promises.
Again, I wish everyone the best of luck. I just want to be driving the vehicle we paid for and not some loaner. We has all the time in the world to keep taking their vehicle in for service? Not me.

$300 for an oil change??? $2000 for tires??? Are you nuts?

I'm with you on the lack of quality with Chrysler. I too have had other Chrysler products with the same poor quality and service but they do make nice looking vehicles. After my last Chrysler I too swore I would never buy a Chrysler product but 24 years later I bought my Jeep only to find things have not changed. Good luck with your Cayenne.

Re: I am Out of Here

I feel for you, friend. This is my first Detroit Steel, '15 High Altitude, and while I am loving it, I am treading carefully and curious how I'll feel in a year. My last three were Infiniti FX35 and FX37. After 70k miles on each, not a single service other than routine maintenance, tires, brakes. No repairs. But.....the Jeep is a lot more bang for the buck. I'll just have to wait to see if its too good to be true. From what I have read and seen here, there are many die hard Jeep lovers that keep coming back. As long as I have no troubles, I'll be a happy camper. Good luck to you, and good luck to me!

Re: I am Out of Here

My last two cars before my 2014 Jeep were a 1998 Dodge Intrepid (had 8 years) and a 2006 Charger (hemi owned for 8 years) both had well over 100,000 miles. Besides maintenance and a few minor repairs they were very reliable and affordable. That's why I came back to the Jeep. So far, 34000 miles with zero problems (besides the couple recalls). With gas so cheap the only regret I have is not getting the hemi again.
