I always leave it in eco even though I dont like eco unfortunately that's what it defaults to every time I turn the car on and just forget to turn it off sometimes so just said hell with it and leave it on all the time now. The climate control defaults to off when you hook the battery cable back on so I leave it turned off when doing the easy drive around the neighborhood.

ECO mode.

I rarely switch the tranny into "performance" mode...maybe 5 times since owning the vehicle if you can believe that.

I definitely feel the rough shifting most have experienced has to do with the software. I say this because even though my tranny shifts MUCH better after the battery reset (downshifting quicker/smoother, finding gears faster), as time goes on it just keeps getting even better...but when the powertrain experiences a different scenario like having the A/C on...or it's switched to "Performance" mode, the tranny starts to exhibited the same rough shifting I had before the battery reset.

I have to say though...when it comes to the A/C being on, the shifting has gotten smoother over time.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I disconnected the negative cable as suggested. Lugging in low gears decreased significantly but it still hangs some when accelerating at high RPM's. Even more interesting is that I had a 2002 mile trip immediately after doing this. My gas mileage for the trip AVERAGED 25.6 per gallon ... about 90% of the driving was highway but that still beats even the EPA estimates. I don't think I had ever topped 23.5 on highway miles only before.

My easy exit seat function did quit working soon after I did this but this is third time for that so the dealer is going to dig deeper instead of just a reset.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

Only 250 miles o mine and feel the rough shift between 1-2-3 in Eco mode. It is usually smooth when I press the gas pedal little hard but if I press gently it starts shifting too early and rough. If I suddenly pull my foot from the pedal I hear a clunk when shifting from 1 to 2.

These only happen in Eco mode, if it is off, it shifts smooth. I will try the fuse reset after couple hundred miles.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I took my 2014 Overland to the dealer last Friday for the rough shifting most folks experiencing here, the mechanic took it for a test drive in normal traffic and said they cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle. I ask the technician to come with me on the highway with bumper to bumper traffic and I can show it to him, he said he is to busy and they return the vehicle to me.. Will try the battery reset again and see if it works this time around.. Pretty unhappy with this tranny since I spend over an hour each day in traffic..

Is there a specific fuse you can pull to do the reset without pulling the battery cables?

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I got my '14 limited back in April and Ive experienced everything described throughout this thread, in all mode. My biggest complaint was the bump between gears 1 and 2 when you glide into 2nd (stop and go traffic, parking lots, etc). I have ~5k miles on it so far.

I did this fix (via the fuse) and it certainly helps....However, has anyone else noticed that after you do this, you can no longer turn on/off the hill start assist via the UConnect UI? Since I had mine turned off before this fix, now my jeep just rolls backwards when starting from stop on a hill.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

After driving my GC for close to 9000 miles I finally did the rest. I could not drive in the ECO mode at all. The jerking was really bad. The reset seemed for now to take care of all of it. MY ATC is also working like is suppose to.I am really surpirsed and hope it keeps it up.
Thanks for the info!
