Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

My Jeep, built in April, has had no updates, hasn't seen the dealer since delivery in April, I'm trying to hear and feel these problems, and I just can't. Driving around parking lots with radio muted and no traffic noise, nothing. No noises, no lurching, smooth and quiet. I'm not saying you guys aren't having problems. You feel and hear what is happening to your vehicle, I have no doubt. Just saying there are JGCs out here without these problems from the factory. Hope you find solutions.

Maybe not. The adaptive nature of the software may react in different ways to different peoples driving styles. Of course, this needs to be addressed. Also, if different people drive the same car, and have different driving styles, this could cause problems. Maybe even the same person varying their driving style in different situations could cause anomalies to the adaptive programming. I guess what I'm saying, now that vehicles learn our driving habits instead of us learning the vehicle's idiosyncrasies, there could be "confusion" in the adaptive nature of the transmission's programming. I've probably been reading too much Issac Asimov.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

1stJeep, I called Chrysler customer care like you did and spoke with a front end rep regarding why I cannot get the Sept tranny update if I got the Aug update and still experiencing the rough shifting in stop and go traffic. The rep said if the dealer hooked up the vehicle to their WiTech system and it did not show an update is needed they cannot do anything.. I ask if there is any difference between the Aug and Sept update, she said she is not technical and could not answer me and that I should ask my dealer. Looking forward to your response next week as to whether or not the Sept update makes a difference in the shift pattern in traffic compare to the August.

Thanks...

My dealer provided the following in regards to the tranny update (RRT 13-066):

DTCM OLD# 05150732AD, NEW# 05150732AE
TCM OLD# 04800733AG, NEW# 68225560AB

I believe these are the old and new flash levels. Perhaps you can go to your dealer and ask them to use the wiTech software to get the flash levels of what you have and if they don't match my new numbers, then you are in need of an update.

Not sure if this will help - but perhaps it's worth a shot.

I had the same run around and prob will again on Monday. I listened to the Rep's spiel about not being included, then very politely told him that he was correct but if he could walk thru the TSB with me I would greatly appreciate it. Like I said it took 15min just to get to that. He apologized profusely and called the dealer for me.

I will def report back on the update, but don't hold ur breath...they r prob going to have to keep the car awhile ( I break out in hives just thinking about it). Keep me posted as well, I just don't know y I'm always excluded from this stuff either. Are we in the same region? I'm in NC?

Is anyone planning to do the battery cable trick after the second update? I'm greatly considering it when I get the car back. I want all the old behavior gone...4-ever

Ok thanks. Thought it was just telling the dealer not to do so, but thinking about it more, I guess you are right
