According to the owners manual it could be one of the following fuses.

F32 drivetrain control module
F57 transmission
F60 transmission control module.

My guess would be F60.

These are all under the hood on the passenger side.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

Nobody mentioned (or I missed) what size wrench was needed to remove the battery cable. Turns out I didn't need any. It was only sitting about half way down on the post, and came off in my hand. I had to loosen the nut almost two full turns to get it all the way back on.

I still went through the steps that were listed, but a loose battery clamp could account for the surprises I've been getting.

Most everything stayed, but there were a few exceptions. The radio volume was set to zero, the a/c was off, when I put it back to auto the temp had changed from 68 to 72.

Time will tell.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

Just did mine this morning. Just a little twisting back and forth on the clamp and it popped right off. I must say, i just had a glorious 20 minute drive. Vehicle was much more decisive with shifts, much smoother shifts and finally just a pleasure to drive.

Now for the bad news, I've got a lovely "Radio Locked. Please start vehicle" message on my 8.4AN. It still played my IPod, switched to radio when I hit the Radio button but of course i can't see anything on the screen. Very weird. Gonna let it sit for a little while and go fire it up later and see if it magically goes away. I've already restarted the vehicle once before the test drive and that didn't fix anything. It flashes the screen for a second when i hit the Screen Off button but it's there when i turn it back on. Anybody know of a way to reboot the RA4? If nothing else, I'll at least have a reason to give the Assist button a try today.

Vehicle runs like a beast now so I have no complaints....prob something simple and stupid with the screen.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

False alarm....all is fine after letting it sit for a while. Weird, but I'll take it. BTW, I did notice that i had reset my Equalizer settings after the battery pull. Everything else was still stored - phone, radio presets, and settings.

Sean is officially my hero for the month of June....

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

When I R&R the negative battgery cable the other day, the only things that changed were the HVAC temp was set to 72 degrees and the equalizer settings were in the middle and the radio was locked. A restart got the radio working. Also noticed that the liftgate opens with 2 clicks once in a while instead of the usual 4 clicks that it normally takes. Maybe some progress?? But it will probably be back to 4 clicks in no time.

Anyone try this on a SRT? Just wondering. Will try this tomorrow if the weather is OK. Fingers crossed.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

So the owners manual is wrong about F57, it is not for the transmission according to the diagram in the fuse box.

However, F60 is the Transmission Controller Module, so I pulled that fuse and let it sit for 15 minutes.

I have a 2014 V6 Limited (april build) with 1500 miles on it. Prior to this, the 1-2 upshift was slow under normal throttle with eco on or off. I also had some occasional rouch shifts when decellerating.

My commute is to work is 30 miles, and so far, the trans is alot smoother. Very little lag for the 1-2 or even the 2-3 upshift.

I did check my battery and the negative wire harness was on there good and tight. I thought the fuse would be eaiser to try first.

I will see how the rest of the week goes and report back.

I wonder if the end of line test leaves some bad parameters in the trans controller brain .

- Mike

I might try the fuse first as well. Thanks for the tip.

Re: I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

Thanks MTC595 .I have 2014 Summit 5.7 and I used your idea to reboot the trans using C60 fuse and unbelievable - what a difference , it shifts as smooth as butter. and because it only rebooted the trans; nothing else changed. I highly recommend this reboot as it makes a night and day difference both up and down shifts .

Sorry to hear that.

I'm on my second week now after performing this battery disconnect reset, and if anything my transmission shifts even smoother now than when I first reset it (now that it's fully re-learned the parameters)...AND for some reason my gas mileage average from the computer display reads about 1 mpg higher than before the reset.

Go figure...maybe in time this "reset" will solve world hunger as well?
