If you had your Bubbling dash replaced, please read this....

2014 JEEP GC

<35K miles

I had my dashed replaced by the dealer.

When I picked up the car, it had 147 EXTRA miles on the car.
Needless to say I was pissed and inquired as to why there were miles on the car if it was only the dash that needed replacing?

Did it really need to be road tested? If so, did you really need to put 147 miles on it? I can live with 30 miles...but 147??

If anyone has had their dash replaced, did the dealership road test if for 147 miles?

They told me the car has to "cycle" thru and must be road tested.

Post your replys if this has happened to you.

Or if the dealer is accurate in the car needing to be cycled thru.

147 miles wow! Excessive? I think so.
No dash replacement here but this could explain the extra miles. When we got our 2011 we wanted tinted windows and our dealership said they do that stuff and more bla bla bla. Ok so I always check the miles before leaving a vehicle at a service department and this particular time I noticed 19 extra miles had been put on. Wondering why they would have to drive it 19 miles I ask, turns out that when there busy they sometimes sub the work out so without my knowledge the drove my jeep across town and had local tint shop do the work, deceiving to say the least.

They said since the dash was removed, they needed to calibrate all of the computers, emission controls etc since they were disconnected.

I am not buying it.....
I approached and spoke to the GM and voiced my displeasure, then I spoke to the Chief Tech.

They have a dyno and put the car on a dyno, but it was not driven on the street.

Re: If you had your Bubbling dash replaced, please read this....

If you have a model with crash avoidance and require a windshield change or radar unit change, the vehicle has to be driven at different highway speeds in various obstacle situations to calibrate the radar unit with the windshield camera. The camera Identifies the obstacle and confirms the crash situation. Techs will easily drive 30+ miles depending on the experience of the technician. The process requires two techs, one driving, one with a laptop. In large cities like Houston where I live, they have to get far enough out of town to get to high way speed, which could be 30 miles each way and then some.

The service writer told me the drive method calibration is the process all dealers use as they do not have access to the same simulation software used at the factory. I was concerned that the drive method was not as accurate as it took awhile after vehicle return to experience one of the circumstances where the crash avoidance system activated. It works, I just don't have as many of the nuisance alerts as with the factory calibration.

Your car was the used as loaner or someone important at the dealership needed a drop off 70 miles away. Really doubt 147 miles were driven to calibrate the crash avoidance system.
