I have the 2014 Summit V6 4x4. It is a year old. I have the latest revision C transmission flash. Going from the original software release to the current one, I can tell that the issues people had were nearly all the transmission programming. I really don't think anything was wrong with the transmission design or build. I have no regrets in buying the V6. Plenty of power and fantastic mpg's. I am sure that some had real problems as you see mentioned on this forum, but that is true just about anywhere. Also, many more V6 equipped GCs are produced so I would expect more to report their experiences. In general, more people report and share their problems on forums than report no problems.

I have. 2014 v6 as well with the latest revision C transmission flash. Chrysler also replaced the control valve body in mine and none of these things have helped with my transmission. Still experiencing harsh upshifting and downshifting.

I have a V6. The issue explained previously is the worst downshifting from 2 to 1 under very light brake pressure. I've noticed with moderate to heavy braking the issue is minimal. It also appears that coasting to a stop on a slight incline is also bad.

Hopefully they can figure this out, I was hopeful that disconnecting the battery would solve all the factory modified settings....

It appears that some transmissions are just not right, but not all. I hope the reason(s) for the issues, and why not all of them, eventually become apparent. It can't just be the adaptives as if you do the battery reset, some have posted still having problems.

8HP45 below is the ZF version of this tranny and the 845RE is the Chrysler V6 "version"...maybe the "extra friction plates" are NOT "improving performance".

Lifted from 845RE / 8R70: ZF 8-Speed Automatic Transmission for Chrysler cars :

"Known differences between the 8HP45 and 845RE include, according to oh2o, the 845REs clutches (which have extra friction plates for improved performance) and, for some vehicles, a higher capacity oil pan. oh2o wrote that many internal parts do not interchange between the 845RE and 8HP45."

Does anyone know if people with other chrysler cars like durango, charger, 200, etc have the new 8-speed transmission in them? and are they experiencing the same issues that us WK2 v6 owners are facing?

Really irritates me to know that the WK2 has been out for a year and there hasn't been any indication from Chrysler to take responsibility and fix this issue.

the ram 1500 pickup has it and that is a the best implementation of the 8sp I have driven, feels better than the v6 or v8 GC

And guess what? That tranny is the pure ZF version, the 8HP45 NOT the Chrysler "modified" version (845RE) being complained about here....coincidence? hmmm....

I drove the v8 ram so it was probably the 8HP70 which was also the real zf not the Chrysler concoction. just another reason to buy the v8 GC lol

Yep, the 8HP70 pure ZF, not molested by, I mean modified by Chrysler.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Quick update, I just got back from my local Jeep dealer and talked with the guy that handles all the transmission work. He was quick to mention that there's been "over 30" cases of issues similar to mine recently (I don't live in a large market), we took a quick test drive and he confirmed the issue.

Apparently, Chrysler is aware of the issue and is working on a software update to fix it. He had no idea of the timing of the next software release, but suggested I call back in 1 month. He mentioned that the more calls or complaints Chrysler receives about this issue, the faster it will likely get resolved.

Does anyone have a good contact number to Chrysler for this?

Besides the transmission issue, I love my Jeep, I think we need to join forces and apply pressure to Chrysler that they cannot let this issue continue, especially for a vehicle that cost $40K+.
