Sorry, I don't know what "what build" means.

My driving patterns are easy and slow.

Although I read in the manual when I first got it (I think it was the manual) where Jeep rec'd driving at different speeds up to 60 MPH with periodic rapid accelerations - I did that.

Build = manufactured date

I got my transmission flashed today, they first gave me a story on how there were no recalls or that the update for AU jgc would not be available for months even though I showed them the TSB, I get a call later, that if would get the transmission flashed according to the very same TSB, well fancy that QLD

Welcome to Chrysler dealerships. Anything you bring in will always be a full on fuking fight. They wanted to argue with me when I came in for an oil change and asked for the TSB flash.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I went into a different dealership today to get the transmission flashed and check-out their service department. I told the service guy that I've had all transmission updates with the exception of the December release. I explained the shifting is still clunky at times. I also brought up the latest TSB which goes through a complete re-learning procedure. He was aware of it, shook his head, and said that it takes over two hours to do something like that.

Once completed he said they updated the PCM. Everything else was up date. My invoice has the comment "reflashed PCM number 18-008-14". I just looked it up on wk2jeeps.com and it references a MIL illumination for cylinder misfire and brake switch issue. How is this relevant to shifting behavior? Guess I'll know soon enough if shifting performance has somehow improved.

So you handed them a copy of TSB 21-007-13 REV. C and they didn't update the firmware for it, instead updating a different firmware not related? If you handed them the actual TSB, they should have applied it if you told them your tranny has at least one of the symptoms addressed in the TSB. That's what in did a month ago and its much better now.

No. This was the first time at this dealership so I thought the better approach would be to give them specific information on the problem and history. If the job they performed has no benefit to the original described problem then I guess they are off the list. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and see how it drives in the upcoming weeks.

Can you tell me what symptom was resolved re:transmission ? Because I am still having cold start rough transmission, but now it clears up within 1km, but decelerating it occasionally gives me a rough time shift down (3-1)

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Not sure if you guys remember my post from a few months ago, but I have still been having severe issues with my V6 8-speed. Every time a strong lurch/bump forward when coming to a stop and extremely rough up shifting and downshifting.

Have brought it in 6 times to the dealer for this specific issue alone, which more than qualifies for the lemon law in California.

Latest from Chrysler Corporate is that they want to completely replace the transmission and valve body... they even sent a "Transmission Expert" from Detroit to California just to test drive my Jeep and verify my issue. Talk about a waste of corporate money...

Really pisses me off that they keep denying my buy-back. I have been in a rental '14 GC for the past two weeks which they are paying for and this one drives like a completely different vehicle even with similar builds. Why spend $5,000 on a repair when they could just put me in a replacement Jeep??

Anyone have any luck with them buying back for transmission issues? This is ridiculous that I have to experience this prolonged issue that completely affects the driving experience in a $45,000 car. All interactions with corporate seem like no one knows what they're talking about...

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I got my 14 SRT about two months ago.....rough shifts throughout, I'm not impressed with the transmission at all. Tried using the paddle shifts at full throttle and it was horrid, thought the car was going to die, and this was merging into a highway. I keep it in auto or sport most of the time. I need to make time to get in and get the updated TSB for it I'm hoping that helps. Coming from a S Tronic Audi S4, the Chrysler group has a long way to go in order to have a proper transmission for a car of this caliber. The paddles are absolutely useless and anyone that says different has never driven a proper paddle shifting vehicle. It's actually a waste.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

For those who want to take action to force Jeep to fix this issue, I would strongly encourage everyone to post a complaint on the following website, sponsored by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If there is a group that will force correction action, it's NHTSA.

The more disgruntled owners that are heard about the issue, the better chances we have of getting this resolved once and for all. With the harsh shifting, you would think this will cause irregular and premature wear and tear on the transmission, which poses a safety risk.

I love this damn truck, if we can just fix this frickin issue!

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Is the rough shifting transmission still an issue when the transmission oil has warmed up post April TSB? I mean I have had it and still suffer from it but mostly during cold starts (transmission stuck to 4th, and the noticeable down shifts when cruising to a stop or violently when braking

Mine was good for a couple hundred miles and now it's back to being terrible as ever.

Today I backed out of my garage and when I pull out there's a stop sign very close in my community. This part is always very confusing for the Jeep cause I only go about 10mph and 30 yards. Most of the time as I'm stopping at the stop sign it's in the middle of the vicious "slip" shift into 2nd which makes it look like I'm lunging forward when I stop. Today was awesome. I went slower to try and keep it in first. I pulled up to the stop sign, stopped (in 1st) and when I stopped it viciously slammed into 2nd. lol. All I can do is shake my head at this point.
