I find it ridiculous that we have to do this these vehicles, this all should have been weeded out in testing. I had mine re flashed in April and is now worse than it was before with the hard down shifts/ not moving from a stop. All of this non sense makes me yearn for the 5 spd of the WK or WJ, it also makes me seriously rethink purchasing this vehicle after my lease is up. Sorry for the rant everyone.

Agree 100%, besides the obvious issues with built quality, body panels, tank lid, doors not lining up... the 8 speed must be the most disappointing issue with this vehicle.
Why? Is this a transmission issue only or a more involved drivetrain (4x4) issue?

Id say trans because the 8spd in the V8s and diesel work fine. The 8spd in the v6 is a different one that Chrysler mucked with instead of the fully German built ZF

As I've stated before I lease my jeep. Only problem I have is trans. I am going to keep it so when I do purchase it I'll just add warranty to it just for the reason of the trans. Hope they figure it out sooner then later though.

Mine just went over 24,000 miles, and the transmission is just fine. It is unfortunate that some people have problems, but what percentage have problems? This s-speed transmission is a proven parts also used in BMW and other vehicles.

Yep, I'm really also getting annoyed by this transmission's behavior. #1 When approaching a stop sign or light, it roughly downshifts....ruining a smooth approach. #2 Slow response when passing. #3 Personally I don't care for the downshifting when going downhill....I'd rather coast. #4 Downshifts when I don't want it to when letting off throttle.

Got transmission flashed last April. Pulled battery cable last week....no improvement. I hope there will soon be a TSB for the 5.7 similar to the one the diesel folks seem to like.

how many miles on your 5.7? Mine had some 1-2 shuddering when I first got it but by 2000 miles it had smoothed out, at 17K now and all has been well. if you are still early in miles it may smooth out but if not may be something else. If you have not had the transfer case flash that came out over the summer that is a good one to get it smooths out some of the driveline bumping that's is there sometimes.

I checked my receipts and my Jeep has had the latest transmission TSB Flash 21-004-14. Will take it to dealer soon.

21-021-14a updates the DCTM for the low speed bumps in drive line. That one eliminated the bumping for me but for shifting 5.7 has only had that one update back in 2/14.
