Your trans can also remain in 2nd at a full stop depending on how you use the paddle shifters or select terrain settings.

If these aren't the cases then you have a separate problem from the harsh shift issue.

No It's from most likely not sitting there long enough to go to 1st gear. I just know I don't have any downshifting problems just the occasional upshifting.

2014 hemi summit... Has the transmission tsb applied yesterday... Has made a world of difference. Happy with the smooth shifting... Had buzz and some harsh shifting prior... Dealer advised that if I wasn't happy they have a three hour laptop connected program that facilitates learning... I won't be needing that. At least not now

The 2014 5.7 hasn't had a new transmission software flash for shift quality released since February 2014 is that the one you are talking about

Correct. I waited because it wasn't terrible and I didn't want to make it worse. Glad I did it yesterday.

I had that one also it was a good one it smoothed it out good even though it only had a minor 1-2 roughness. trans has been good overall had a bad 1-2 roughness from new until about 2k but became really minor at that point and the tsb totally got rid of it, almost 18k now.
if you have that low speed driveline bump like in parking lots that transfer case flash is another good one to get totally got rid of that, I think it was july of 14 it came out.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I just recently got fed up with the way my tranny was shifting... so i pulled the negative from the battery, let it sit for 40mins and went for a test drive (normal driving speeds). All i can say is WOW what a difference.

I plan on bringing it down to my dealer to have them check both the Trans and HVAC modules and update if needed. Also having the trailer harness wiring activated too.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

The only problem with the battery disconnect fix, is that its not permanent, the problems gradually return....

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

It seems to me that (almost) everyone has the experience where the transmission is good at first, or after they disconnect the battery, and then seems to "learn" bad habits instead of good ones. Is it possible to bypass the learning on this thing, and/or has Jeep looked at this particular function as the root cause of the tranny problems?
