That's ok. You see knowing the VIN/rego number I can prove that these cars have had the same trouble and may make my case for the same fixes

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude, it shifts up great, its the random downshift that is jerky as if i was downshifting way to high in the rpm

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Just to add to this conversation. I had my valve body replaced about 200 or 300 miles ago. I had really rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd and from 2nd to 1st. When the trans is cold, i'd say its 90 percent better. When warm its 95 percent better. I'll report back again when i get more miles on it.

Had the valve body replaced with the latest flash, only been a few days so far so good. The fix was when u come to a stop it stays in 2nd gear once you come to a complete stop, it will shift-down to 1st. No bump felt at all.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I did not want them to open the transmission, but they had to, otherwise they would not be able to address my problem. Dealer said I had no other option. They first tried the tsb, still had the rough down shift.

My dealer replaced my Valve Body on my first trip in for my trans problems, it was the dealers remedy, I just complained about the down shifting, but from the paperwork they tried a software fix first

That's exactly my main complaint. I leave mine in Economy mode as this is the default. Not sure if this behaviour is is the same in sports mode.
I want to pass someone and press the pedal, all hell brakes lose as the tranny is trying to sort the proper gear, that's plain awful. Worst thing ever :-)

I need a new vehicle....

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I am now approved for a new transmission

Anything I should look into when this gets done, mistakes, upgrades I should watch out for?

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I've had my last transmission flash in December on my 2014 Laredo. It stopped the harsh downshifting but now when it's cold and I get in and go, there seems to be some slipping from 1st to 2nd gear. This only happens when I don't wait for the tranny to warm up. But it's like it's slipping now.
Anyone know if there is another update out since December ?

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

The fun continues, Took my SRT in on Monday to address the AC problem and to do the latest Tranny TSB update....Today is Wed still no SRT......Said AC door actuator was broken and was replaced, said update didn't fix trans, and they were going to install another (2nd) new Valve body....Just called and they haven't finished the valve body install, funny, first one only took about half a day, this one is taking over a full day, makes me wonder if they even changed the first one, HUM???...Anyway I asked how the broken AC/Heater door actuator, could make the Jeep vibrate at idle when the AC compressor engaged??? Answer, they don't know, and when they finish with the trans, they will send it back to their AC person to re address my concern that it was written up for when I brought it in on Monday....said they would call me again tomorrow, Thur, with an update......Meanwhile, I'm paying 1K a month for a Jeep I'm not driving, and I'm paying another 20 bucks or so a day for a crappy, stinky, rental car..... and I'm not sure that either problem is really going to be fixed..... If the first trans valve body replacement didn't fix my transmission, I doubt a second one will either, and I know an actuator rod under the dash, cannot cause the rough engine vibration when the AC kicks on at Idle, I could love my Jeep, if they could just fix all the problems it has, but so far, I'm not a Happy Camper with it, and I can't wait to see what other stuff got damaged or screwed up do to their repair work? Great to buy a brand new expensive car, and have to have it all torn apart for repairs....and in and out of the shop all the time.....
