I've had that problem with the transmission not shifting into 8th gear. I would just put it into sport mode and shift it manually into 8th then take it out of sport. It worked for me. After a while it was shifting into 8th on its own. Not in Sport mode.

I said BULL. anyway, we'll see.
Did the flashing fix your tranny? Thanks.

It's seems better but haven't been on any trips to get a consistent test with cruise control above 75. I will soon though.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I'm having the harsh 2-3 upshift issue with my 10/14 built 2015 Summit with the six. As others have written, until the tranny warms up, the upshift is not smooth. After that no problems. All updates have been performed, disconnected the battery for an hour, same problem. Can't believe that the 15's still have the problem. I have a good relationship with my dealer. When I told them the issue prior to them updating the most recent software, they said that I'm the first one to complain. I can only think that either their other customers are not having a problem, or they just aren't cognizant of a problem.

They had to refresh the granny and reset the learning function. The granny should then learn yor driving pattern.

I noticed that the tsb for the flash that they installed specifically states not to clear the learn memory.

as for me:
2014 GJC Limited 3.6l
I have a 2014 June built grand cherokee summit. My transmission has been in 4 times and I have either have gotten used to it and have given up on it or just taking a break before taking it in again.

I'm confused as to why you are having to put it into Sport mode when manually shifting.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

I'm having my share of issues with the transmission in the 15. Been into service 5 x (that's once a month since I got the car new in April).

My main issue - very prevalent (intermittent) delay in upshift from 1-2, during course of mostly city driving throughout the day. What I mean by "delay" is that car doesn't go to 1-2 without revving high and then hanging in 1 longer than is typical before finally upshifting. Notice it happens when driving pattern changes (such as when you are in stop and go for, say 15 mins, and then when traffic clears and you finally have the opportunity to accelerate, major drag in 1-2.

Also, first upshift in the morning. Car drives like molasses. Shifts late from 1-2 and 2-3 with high revs, drop in HP, and then a surge or bucking at gear change.

Also, accelerating through the automatic downshift that the transmission does when traveling down even the slightest slope. I get that slipping sensation, high revs with the feelings like there isn't enough power to shift up.

Had TSB flashes and the relearn twice - once at 1000 miles and once at 4200 miles. Also valve body replaced at 2000. Problem persists. Took it in for oil at 5000 and they drove it with a scan tool and and said all the transmission metrics were being met as designed.

Have a demand letter to Chryler requesting buyback, but not holding my breath since the service paperwork says "car operating as designed."

Not sure what to do next.
