I will likely continue to challenge jeep in various posts as I believe challenging companies leads to improvement of product. But I do respect the way you answer other posts.
I did not post the exact number, I gave you a theoretical one but more factually compared to other concerns. Often like other people here I can give hints and some details but not everything about all things because then I would be in trouble. I am not Chrysler nor am I tied to them financially in any way, but people here can confirm I have access to real information... many times stuff Chrysler people don't know.

I have been a part of the automotive industry my entire life, literally and not specifically Chrysler.

You should challenge Jeep on your problem, but with a good service department. I never tell people they don't have an issue, because I am not driving your truck. When I see something I know about, I give people information they can use to put them on the track to a solution. If I say there is no present solution, there isn't.

Trust me this is on my Radar, if I see something about this before others, I will let everyone know in one of my Willx Reports. In a way I am reminding people solutions can not come solely from this forum, that Dealer visits generate STAR Cases which make for engineering research. I know for a fact that the Hard Shift in the V6 is known to Chrysler but the complaint count is LOW in comparison to other concerns (don't read into that part, there are not a million concerns with these).

I can say for 100% sure, Willx knows his stuff. He has helped me to be able to "steer" my local dealer in the correct direction for a different issue. Without him, I would be banging my head against the wall!

I definitely agree challenges must be made, but challenging here in posts is nowhere near as effective as challenging the dealer service department and up the chain at Chrysler. That's where the buck needs to be passed. Once empirical evidence of a problem lands on an engineer's desk the ball will start rolling.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Bad shifting transmission in shop today. Did the reset so we will see what happens. I hate the loud occasional klunks when downshifted to 1st gear at 2-3 mph. The Jeep shutters when that happens. V6 Engine. Dealer said over the phone they will show me how to use sports mode to improve the problem. Ha Ha!!!! No program to remove econ mode in startup. Dumb!!! Econ mode should be an option. Happy with my Jeep but not the trans! BTW the salesman says there are a lot of complaints about this trans.

+ 1,000,000.00 Engineering time is prioritized by impact.

If there is one trend I have seen, it does seem to be more in the south. Glad to hear there is some recognition at your dealer. This is important.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

Just called my dealer to make an appointment. The service manager warned me that it may takes two weeks for them to order and replace the transmission. That's what they did for another new V6 8 speed transmission.

Re: If your 8spd trans is rough, put your hand up

This transmission roughness became more severe and annoying as I keep driving. Today I did try some different things using the shifters in manual mode.

Stopped the car.
1-2 smooth
2-1 smooth
2-1-2 quickly car jerks.
This kind of explains rough shift when tranny cant decide which gear to choose.

Started moving.
my foot on the gas accelerating 1-2: not perfect but relatively smooth
my foot off the gas pedal car is moving 1-2: very rough, and hear a clunk

I no more think that this is a software issue. It happens in manual mode too on my car. tried the manual mode to see what happens?

So are the hard shifting problems that are know by Chrysler centered more around the V6 not the Hemi? Hemi has shift issue also but maybe just not as many or the same as the V6? Battery Cable reset has worked for me for a while for the most part on the Hemi but the stumbling up shift 1-2, 2-3 does begin to show itself after extended driving in heavy stop and go traffic. Never does it when starting out with a cold engine.

Something else I wonder about is how many people have called or gone into the dealer to complain about the transmission only to be quickly sent on their way and told wait 5000 miles and it will get better or that's just how the 8spds are and then it is not formally documented unless someone becomes irate about it. I don't mean the enthusiasts on this board but more the average "its just a car" drivers who have the bulk of the numbers.

But like you said probably not on Jeeps front burner if the complaint numbers are not there to back it up

More so that they are not the same transmissions. Not the same problems. Some complaints have been fixed but this is not a one fix for all concerns.... make sense?
