Ignition Switch Start/Stop Button Replace

Hi all,

I'm new to the Forum here. Just bought a 2014 Limited White and I've been doing some healthy mods to it.

I need help to replace the ignition switch start / stop button. The guy I bought it from was a farmer and his dirty greasy hands wore out the button so it looks unreadable.

I bought the new switch from Mopar for about $54.33 PN 68207000AD. But it looks like the ignition button doesn't just pop off like the old Jeeps did. There is a connection on the bottom of the cylinder that might make it hard to remove without taking apart the dash.

Does anyone have experience or know how to remove the old switch so I can put the new one in? Pics attached of the new part. I've searched high and low and even called the dealers..no help.

Thanks very much for any help!

Nick

Re: Ignition Switch Start/Stop Button Replace

1. Remove the integrated center panel stack cover with a trim tool via release points shown in the first photo.

2. Reach through the integrated panel stack and disconnect the Keyless Integrated Node "KIN" connector.

3. Press on the 3 tabs (2 tabs on top, 1 tab on bottom) shown in second photo to release the "KIN". out towards the front of the instrument panel.

4. Slide replacement KIN into panel untill the clips secure into place.

5. Reconnect KIN connector.

It's quite a simple parts swap. I am uncertain whether the KIN needs to be reprogrammed to work or not.

Re: Ignition Switch Start/Stop Button Replace

Ratchet, thanks so much! You rock! Exactly what I was looking for. Seems like a pretty simple swap.

I'll call Jeep service to check if the KIN needs to be reprogrammed. I'm guessing not, but want to be sure.
Have a good weekend

Re: Ignition Switch Start/Stop Button Replace

I wish I had an answer on programming. I haven't had to swap out a KIN yet. Have been tossing around the idea of getting the red SRT KIN just to add some contrast around that area of the panel. I guess I've been procrastinating longer than usual. Ha!

Glad we could help you out!
