Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

I got the TSB done today and notice a little better throttle response but that's about it.

I get a little "kick" now and again at around 40 MPH, but it honestly doesn't bother me. Car has been otherwise flawless for 7K miles.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Sales Code EZH) and 545RFE transmission (Sales Code DGJ)......what does this info mean and how can i find out if they apply to me in the tsb's? Service guy said i was up to date because he checked when i was hooked up....but he was a douchebag and said i can believe whatever is written on the internet. I understand the build by dates which mine is 5/10 but im pretty sure i have the shudder issue and it is exactly as written in the other tsb's and i notice the hard shifting in this one.

Make him print out paper work showing you that your's has this update. If he can't or won't, find a new service department.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Agreed, but i was more interested in finding out if specific tsb's apply to my vehicle by VIN or by those numbers, because if i am up to date then i gotta deal with that shudder bs. Second dealer said he would do it only if my VIN was included in it. Just getting tired of their bs and not knowing what they are talking about.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

First off you cant go in demanding a TSB. You can say that you read a TSB was issued and you have the same symptoms as described. a TSB isn't a recall, it doesn't have to be done. Its just an improvement. You might have the new software if you've been in to the dealer within the past few months who knows. As others state get a second opinion if you believe you might qualify. You need the hemi and a build date before 4/11 and also not have the latest software already.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Nah, i just simply asked for the update because i had the shudder issue and it was exaclty as written and he threw his hands up and said fine you can believe everything that is written on the internet. Thats why i was trying to figure the tsb's for myself. Going to a diff dealer later and see what they say, just tired of hearing i dont know

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

I believe that the database for this TSB has some problems. We hooked up my 5.7, January build date this morning and the computer wasn't showing this TSB as being applicable. No way my car already has it. The tech said he could force the update but that there are some risks with that. I think their system just still has some database cross reference problems. He looked at my Vin and indicated that the update should apply.

Worst case would be a non functioning Jeep while they waited for a new ECU.

Quite a risk... as long as they cover the ECU under warranty right? lol

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

This is very simple. These things are not running all different software programs. If it was built before April 4th and has a 5.7 it would not have the update that's the reason for the Tsb. This idea that dealers had this upgrade months ago is ridiculous. The TSb is out and as usual they know nothing about it. Does anyone really believe they would have some advance knowledge and were putting this upgrade on vehicles in advance of this? I think not. I would wait a couple weeks and let them get their database up to date and then take it in. You would have to indicate you have at least one of these symtoms. This is for all tsb's not just software upgrades.
