Just had an update done yesterday while the dealer replaced my leather dash. The things way harder now it seems. The shifting is smoother and seems to shift less in general. It actually almost redlines now when I floor it. Before the update the jeep would shift into the next gear a little early for my tastes. Much happier now with the new dash and the shifting issue seemingly corrected. Honestly I never thought anything of how it shifted pre update but now I notice a huge difference.

Also, no more clunky downshifting. Well worth a trip to the dealer.

I had the flash update done today. My main complaint was harsh shifting from 1st to 2nf gear, at times. So far, the shifting seems smoother, but will need more driving to have confidence it really worked.

Those of you that have gotten the update -- What are your build dates. Curious how deep into the build (ie 05/11, 06/11) need the new software.

Mine goes in this Friday to see if it needs the update.. I do have some of the symptoms so we'll see. My build date is 8/2010 i think.

Just got the update done and it seems good to go. Shift points seem smoother. My Eco seems to stay on more now but it doesn't feel like its in Eco mode. Either way I'm happy. I'm heading out on a 450 mile trip in a few hours so I'll put her through her paces.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Are you guys (the ones who have gotten the TSB applied) calling and asking the dealer to check for any updates/TSB or are you calling for appointments with an issue that is covered under the TSB?

I specifically tell them that they are NOT allowed to perform ANY updates on my vehicle without permission from me directly.

My 2 previous Jeeps were messed up by updates. One ended up performing harsh downshifts around 10mph when decelerating. What a nightmare and I was so happy with them before this happened.

I printed the TSB and brought it to the dealer, explaining I was experiencing some harsh shifts beteen 1st and 2nd gear at times (one of the symptoms the TSB is supposed to correct). They did the flash right then and there. It doesn't take long. They warned, however, that once they do the flash, they cannot go back to the way things were before the flash. So far, the shifting seems smoother. I have not noticed any other differences.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

I just had my dealer update the software on my vehicle and he told me that this TSB does not apply to my vehicle because my 545RFE transmission sales code is DGQ instead of DGJ. I asked him to explain the difference and he had no idea. Does anyone here know what the difference is?
