Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

After reading a little heres what I found for the difference between the DGQ and the DGJ transmissions.

DGJ 5-Spd Auto W5S580 Transmission
Automatic five-speed transmission with mode select, lock-up, electronic control, manual mode, shift lever on floor, 3.590:1 first gear ratio, 2.190:1 second gear ratio, 1.410:1 third gear ratio, 1.000:1 fourth gear ratio, 0.830:1 fifth gear ratio and 3.160:1 reverse gear ratio W5A580; Standard transmission; Excludes: [DGQ] 5-Spd Automatic 545RFE Transmission

DGQ
5-Spd Automatic 545RFE Transmission
Automatic five-speed transmission with lock-up, electronic control, manual mode, shift lever on floor, 3.000:1 first gear ratio, 1.670:1 second gear ratio, 1.000:1 third gear ratio, 0.750:1 fourth gear ratio, 0.670:1 fifth gear ratio and 3.000:1 reverse gear ratio 545RFE; Standard transmission; Excludes: [DGJ] 5-Spd Auto W5S580 Transmission

From what it looks like is that the DGJ isn't the 545RFE... Is the TSB incorrect... I'm confused now

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Mines also DGQ and not DGJ. Whats your build date CIEGOS? Mines 9/10. I wonder if they changed the tranny sales code sometime during the 2011 year. As you show based on your information above the DGQ as per the title is the 545RFE which is stated in the TSB not the DGJ W5S580 tranny as per the TSB bulletin.

Can others who have gotten the TSB applied look at your paper work that shows the build order and check your tranny code. Is it DGQ or DGJ? Thanks!

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

The TSB must have a typo. My build sheet called out DGQ and since there has never been a 5.7L + W5S580 built it's impossible to have a 5.7L (EZH) + DGJ combo.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

The build date is 11/10. I hope Chrysler submits a correction to the TBS because my dealer won't apply the update unless the TBS says so. Have dealers been told to ignore this typo?

Mine is a DGQ and the dealer supposedly did the flash update.

They must have their system straightened out now. I just had the update applied to mine. I'll report back after I get the feel for the new programming ...

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

I've managed to put 1000 miles on the jeep since having this done 6 days ago. I'm still noticing some stuttering here and there and some puffs of warm air in temps over 98 from the AC. I managed 20.2 MPG interstate driving as well but I domt know what I would have gotten pre update as I didn't have the chance to take a road trip prior to the update.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Chrysler re-issued TSB 18-035-11 on the July 11th to reflect the sales code typo on the transmission. The sales code for the transmission was DBJ and was changed to DBQ. I just got mine updated today and the difference is noticeable.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Mine was done today when they were working on the brake light dash indicator issue. It is noticeable indeed and what I have been waiting for, for months, to fix the 1-2 harsh upshift and the driveline slack near 40mph when you let off the gas. All seems to be significantly improved/gone.

Glad to hear you were finally able to get the update done. Its too bad you had to go through being fed all that nonsense about the update being out for months and yours already having it. I have been through this so many times with dealers just telling you what they think you want to hear and having no clue what they are talking about. Its good you got it done though and hopefully it takes care of your issues.

Thanks, I didn't think I had it either, which is why I consulted two other dealers but wanted to wait until I went back to my normal dealer before I tried anything. Solves most of the problems, the brake light indicator FINALLY gave a code for a brake booster, its on order, along with a new trim wood piece which the glue is separating on above the glove box. Then all should be good for a while!
