Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

Had the ESC update done today on my 5.7, which has the same reflash as this TSB. Very nice improvement in throttle response and shifting in auto mode. Should have had it done earlier!

Today is the first really hot day we have had since I had the flash done. It definitely improves the air conditioning around town in stop and go traffic as well. This TSB is something everyone should have done.

Believe it or not my dealer did the update even though I did not request it. I'm glad they did it. It definitely feels MUCH more responsive and quicker off the line. Good stuff!!!

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

I had the update done this morning. I had the hard 1-2, and 3-4. It also seemed like the transmission dragged, and hunted for which gear to be in. After the update it feels like I have a different transmission. Absolutly great. I thought I was stuck with a transmission that did not work correctly. Not now. Fantastic update. My build was 9/10. Thanks for posting this. I feel like I have a new vehicle after 20K miles.

I'm finally getting the TSB flashed next friday. Excited to see how different the transmission feels, I always thought that 1-2 shift felt abnormal.

Re: Important new TSB for 2011 5.7L owners

TSB performed this morning. took about 15 minutes and I was on my way back to work. the Jeep feels much quicker, the throttle is a LOT more responsive. Now I'll probably get worse gas mileage the next few weeks, because I can't keep my foot out of it. The 1-2 clunk is eliminated.

*Was the bolt that was bent out of shape on the driveshaft? If everything else checks out, they should either replace the driveshaft with a new one or have it professionally balanced ($$$). This is NOT something the dealer can do in-house and they might have to contact a regional rep for approval to sub out the specialized balancing work. A driveshaft that is out of balance can not only be obtrusively annoying and cause what you're experiencing, but it shortens the life of your U-joints and differential much like an out of balance wheel does to wheel bearings and suspension components.

*If a driveshaft was dropped or banged during assembly, this is enough to throw it out of balance. Same thing for an engine crankshaft; I've done it myself and speak from irritating experience.
