Installed aftermarket radio, weird EVIC issue

I installed an aftermarket double-din headunit this past weekend. I used the PAC-Audio C2R-CHY4 Jeep replacement interface and PAC-Audio SWI-PS steering wheel controls interface.

The installation went well and the headunit is working beautifully. The only issue I am having is that the EVIC is switching to Spanish when I unlock the doors in the morning/after work(as far as I know that's when it's switching). I have to switch the EVIC back to English each time.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this issue before?

I am thinking that I perhaps have a faulty PAC-Audio C2R-CHY4 Jeep replacement interface. Though everything else is working perfectly.

Re: Installed aftermarket radio, weird EVIC issue

Never heard of that one before. I agree with you, I would look at the CAN bus interface first, as the factory head unit is part of the network and it is possible that the WK2 is still new enough that the after market guys haven't figured everything out yet. Or it could be completely unrelated -- but what are the odds? I would be tempted to put the factory unit back in and see if that solves the problem. If so, you know it is the interface.

check with PAC BUT I THINK their harness only works with US. looks like you are in canada.

I remember reading of others in EU with issues.

Re: Installed aftermarket radio, weird EVIC issue

Is it really that big a deal to read the EVIC in Spanish? It hardly seems worth ripping out the rig just for that, but of course it's your baby and your call.

Re: Installed aftermarket radio, weird EVIC issue

I disconnected the battery for about an hour. Issue resolved!
