I have 14 GC limited 3.6L 4WD with factory towing kit. (13k miles)
I hear some wear sound from the front & mid-bottom of the vehicle.
- It only happens when car is stopped for a traffic signal.
- It only happens when outside temperature is high and after driving more than 30 min.
- Hard to describe the sound... not a rattling... more like growling... Sound is not that high, but definitely noticeable.
- Very rarely (once a month ?), this sound is high with some vibration.
- I guess it is coming from the engine room.
- It is very short about 1 sec.
- It is intermittent. (not always)
Does anybody have this issue? or Does anybody know what this sound is?
Thanks in advance.
A friend of mine (BManz on here) still has his 2011 Hemi WK2 that had the howl/growl occasionally and I heard it a few times last summer during a visit. He got the brake booster recall and that was the fix to the weird growling noise. He suspected a vacuum line to the intake or brake boost and he was validated when he started getting a hard brake pedal overnight and then the recall notice came from Jeep.
Check with your dealer to see if you have one of the vehicles covered in that particular recall. Hope that helps track you to a solution.

Thanks for the information. I have an appt. this coming friday with the dealer for them to "look things over" (related to the growling). I plan on asking about the recall also while there--mine is one of the vehicles affected by the recall.
Interesting that cleared his noise us.
Several weeks ago I noticed my power steering fluid level was at least an inch below minimum. Took it in and had them top it off. I swear I am not sure if I have heard the noise since. If I have, it was much more faint. It is not MY daily driver, so I am only driving it on weekends or maybe evenings--so harder to say for sure the noise has completely gone away.
