Is there a way to turn off the beep of the power liftgate?
Each time when the power liftgate is opened or closed, there is a beep. It is annoying as it wakes up my sleeping baby girl who always falls asleep during rides in the roomy and comfortable WK2. Is there a way to turn of the beep sound?
I understand the safety caution. But the door opens or closes really slowly and it has the pinch preventing feature. So I don't think it is going to hurt anyone.
its a pressure sensitive system....so yes there is a pretty good guarantee. Only body parts it would pinch enough to hurt would be the hand digits. I doubt the electric motor has enough hp to do more than bruise a hand/arm
Why not just close it the old fashioned way when you don't want to hear the beep? Pull it closed with your hands - I do that because it takes too long with the button.
i'm considering just snipping the wire to the beeper thingy. its so annoying. if someone is dumb enough to not move when i'm closing the trunk, they deserve the little love tap.
Yeah....I don't see any need for the chime here either. My last vehicle had a power lift gate and no chime....never a problem. Not sure if it could be an issue with little kids...as mine are grown.
Also, the delay (from pushing the button till action) seems quite long.....any way to adjust the delay?

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to mention that after I got my Jeep back from Service for fixing a 4WD issue, the lift gate buzzer was not working anymore. I asked what they did, but they said it was not them. Anyway, I told them to leave it as is since I prefer it off. So, it is possible to disable it, but I have no idea how.
You could always just take it in to check the 4WD system, maybe they will accidently also disable yours
I just picked up my new WK2 and that liftgate beeping sound is gone in second day. It was working fine at first though. Did any of youguys find out how to turn it on or off? Thanks.
Wish mine would stop. I thought the beeper was part of the inside button. It wasn't and it back somewhere in the rear panels. It would take pulling all the rear panels apart, which I wasn't about to cause a rattle for.
I talked to a master tech guy and he had no idea what could cause this problem. Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I will take a visit to a local service and have them check the module and reflash it.
