I'd say he's both.

Re: Is this dealer BS

OK, this morning I called the Jeep customer service hotline. The person there never heard of this Chrysler policy. And opened a case number for me. I then went to the dealer and spoke to the Service manage and service adviser. They backed off that statement of it being a Chrysler policy not to to off fluids. (what did you expect?) Then went into a save face statement, The transmission is a sealed unit and only needs topping off if and when the low sensor lights up. Ok I accept that one. He stated that they usually top off the coolant res with water, which they did not do. Power steering fluid was only at the "add" mark so it had enough to lubricate parts. Brake fluid is that "new" ATF stuff that is the highest expansion brake fluid on the market, and that if they top it off it will overflow in the summer. That never happened to me in the past. I should have gone into the "break in oil" story but by this time I had decided to look for another dealer to buy and service my cars at. Perhaps buy me 2013 GC srt thru the internet and have it delivered there. (but not serviced) I'm afraid that they have lost a 10 year six Jeep customer.

You also have to watch out and make sure they don't put in the wrong power steering fluid if you have the V6 with the electric steering pump. When I bought mine I notice it was low when I brought it home and took it back to the dealership. The guy put in fluid that was not designed for electric steering pumps and when I brought it up they said it was all the same. Pointed it out to them and they stuck by their claim. I stopped at another dealership and bought the fluid designed for electric pumps and kept taking out the old fluid with a turkey baster once a week till I got the new bottle of fluid in there. 3k miles later and the steering pump is fine. You gotta watch these dealership mechanics. If you can do it yourself atleast you know it was done right.

2nd that. What's the dealer's name? I also would be concerned you have to add fluids other than oil or washer fluid with such low miles.

Teterboro Chrysler in northern NJ. All fluids are used at an faster rate in a brand new vehicle. So it's quite normal to be low on them after 2000 miles. But I don't understand why I have to drive around with some of these levels not even showing up on the dip stick. WTF man!!!!

Re: Is this dealer BS

Your question needs no answer, the terms "dealer" and "BS" go hand in hand!

The problem these days is most dealers employ knuckleheads with no idea of the product they're selling.

A lot of us Aussies are experiencing the same problem down here with dealer BS, it's becoming a real stumbling block for those on the forum who have bought, committed to buy and those not yet committed to buy.

The WK2 is a real phenomena down here as it is with you yanks, it has really turned the market on its head BUT lousy Jeep dealership / back up service is working against the huge steps forward Jeep has made.

Jeep Australia appear to be asleep at the wheel , we only hope they "snap to it" before the mud sticks!

BTW, yes, "break in oil" is a load of BS, as an excersise you should ask this knucklehead exactly where does Jeep specify to replace this break in oil and then send the answer to Jeep HQ.
