Update: Triple Failure: ACC-FCW, Airbag, Telephone

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, built in March 2013, suffered a triple failure last week: Airbag Sensors, Seatbelt Sensors, and "Vehicle Phone Requires Service."

I took my Jeep to the dealer which sold the car to me this week. Two days later the service staff told me that the needed part was unavailable until July 24! I did learn that if a Jeep is in the dealer's shop for 30 days, Chrysler will buy the car back. Because I distrust my Jeep, I won't drive it and told the service staff to keep the car until the parts arrive. I hope that Chrysler will offer to buy it back it from me about July 1. The dealer has given a loaner car.

Re: Issues with ACC

At least they are buying the car back. Hopefully that will be seamless and you can get one without any issues.

I don't think that's what he meant. He said he "hopes" they will buy it back. I might be wrong but without a lawyer I doubt this will be that easy. Dropped my Jeep off at the dealer for the same issue today. I hope I will not have to wait until July 25 to get it back. If I have to I will strongly consider New York's lemon law.

It is kind of ridiculous that you can order and they can build your Jeep in 30 days but they cannot fix it in 60 days. So far last year I had less issues with my old Pathfinder with 210K on the odo than this new Jeep. I understand that stuff happens but I wish they would stand behind the product and make it right.

So far:
- couple of days for issues with radio (Vehicle Phone Requires Service)
- 1 or 2 days for transmission issues which were resolved with flash
- 1 day to flash the whole car (to resolve climete control issues on remote start and air suspension issues)
- 2 recalls (1 done and 1 pending)
- now this issue with airbags and ACC/FCW

Honestly I'm quite a tolerant person but my patience is running out ...

Re: Issues with ACC

My truck was in the shop for approximately 19 days while the dealership waited for a new ACC sensor to come in. Of course the part was back ordered, and I also had to wait for the one technician who was certified in calibrating the system to work on it.

Re: Issues with ACC

Dealership took its sweat time (3 days) to diagnose the issue. They told me today what SLLJG already communicated. Some module (ORC module) failed and the part is on back order.

Dealer will NOT offer a loaner. They will only pay for 5 days of rental but no more than $35/day. Which is not even doable in NYC. The cheapest and smallest car is 38 plus tax per day. Not to mention that I'm not sure how am I suppose to fit my family in there. So I'm pretty much w/o a car for most of the summer and nobody gives a shit. They are saying actually that they cannot give me an estimate. The part might be here in a day, two or a month.

I should have listened to my friends who were advising me to STAY AWAY from Chrysler ... and the funny thing is that I got rid of my 210K Pathfinder so I don't have to be in this kind of situation. Have enough headache with 18 month old, don't need another one.

Hopefully will be able to pursue this under lemon law in NY. The car has already been in the shop for 2 weeks. Another 2 weeks and I'm done with it.

Update 2: Triple Failure: ACC-FCW, Airbag, Telephone

Wonder of wonders! After a week in the shop, my Jeep is back, allegedly repaired. The part that the dealer said was backordered until July 24 arrived yesterday, June 3. I hope that the car has been cured of its electronic ills. If not, I'll let you all know ASAP. Good luck to everyone whose Jeep Grand Cherokee has been plagued by these maladies.

Good to hear that. Unfortunately even if they can get the part ASAP they managed to ruin my vacation already which I had it planned already.

I filed complain with NHTSA for the issue... I would advise you to file a complaint with NHTSA as well:

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/Vehicl...nt/index.xhtml

I did ... this is a safety issue. Chrysler already has some issues with this on an earlier models:

Nothing new I guess ...
