Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

Out of frustration, I got in and drove it hard when the transmission was still cold, knowing that the shifting is the worse when the trans temp is below 100*. That is when the CEL came on for the day and I took it to the dealer a couple days later. The service advisor stated that the valve body was "sticking" and that is what caused my check engine light to come on. May have been a coincidence, but I got the desired results.

Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

Took our '14 JGC Ltd. (3/2013 build, 3.6) in for brake booster, visor recalls. Casually mentioned downshift 2 to 1 seemed to be getting more noticeable. With no prompting from us but keeping us advised, they replaced the valve body (had in stock); after replacement the engine was stuck in 5th gear. A new (not rebuilt) transmission was ordered, should be here 12/10.

I'm wondering what caused them to so willingly do the above steps. (Done just before TSB 21-003-14 Rev. A was released.) We have been very pleased with it since May '13, both driving & towing behind DP. Assuming new transmission is same as being put in the MY 2015's, am wondering what, if any, differences there might be from our original transmission.

I'm not sure how it's handled now but in the past if they had to replace a transmission they used a remanufactured one, not a new one.

Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

Add me to the list. Always does it when its cold but once it warms up its not as bad. Going slow it has the 1-2 clunk and at times it gets jerky. Next oil change I am going to get the new TSB flash done. I don't want them touching a brand new transmission to replace the valve body ill let it blow up first if that's the case.

Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

To change the valve body, as it was explained to me, all they had to do is drop the pan, unbolt the defective part and bolt on the new one. Some computer programming was involved and then a test. The time spent waiting was 3 hours. I am very pleased with the results and even in ECO mode the acceleration has vastly improved. I do wonder, however, why a brand new vehicle had a defective part from day one, unless it was a bad batch that has now been manufactured correctly. Again, all I can say is that I am glad it is now working properly.

I just had the transmission flash done 12/9/14 and its shifting like it should now. Not hitting hard from 2nd to 1st when I'm stopping. So I'm hoping the problem is solved for good now !!! Love my Jeep Again !!!!!!!!!!

My hard 2 -1 downshift came back in spades 2 weeks after my latest round of reflashes. Hopefully this newest reflash does the trick (21-003-14 REV. A)...guess I'll find out when my Jeep goes in for service on Dec 26th.

Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

I had the same issue but after the update mine never ever shifts to first when approaching a red light, it's smooth. Also when going down a hill with cold engine it no longer shifts very rough from first to second.
Having said that the software is still very bad, often not knowing which gear to select when downshifting. Economy mode default? Who had that idea? It's insane. At least the default should be selectable.

To be exact, I feel the rough/hard downshift from 2nd into 1st coming to a stop from a crawl after the transmission has warmed up...especially in heavy stop & go traffic. The reflashes only lasted a couple weeks. Figures..I just renewed my SiriusXM for 6 more months.

So now I'm back to square one, saddled with a $45,000 vehicle with 9,500 miles on it...and a crappy shifting transmission. Looks like I'll be calling Chrysler Customer Care this Monday to report the issue, and we'll take it from there, and I'll be sure to post what happens.

I'm just thankful I never forked over the $2000 for an extended warranty because not only will I be trading this vehicle in before the standard warranty expires, but this will also be my last Chrysler product. That's it...tired of this shit.

The new 2015 Ford F-150 is looking better everyday.

Add me to the list with my 2015 Altitude and a 11/14 build date. Had the "re-learn" flashed last week. Lasted a whole 6 days!! I should have known better after Chrysler bought my 2014 back for the same issues.....
