Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

It's been over two weeks now since having the latest reflash done to the transmission for a rough 2nd to 1st downshift...still shifting perfectly! I've also noticed that my Jeep is more responsive when I hit the gas...less hesitation.

(Fingers crossed!)

I don't think this is a mechanical transmission issue but a software issue but I'm not sure.
My '14 Ram 3.6 does not have Eco mode, the 3.6's in the Rams don't have it thankfully, but it will rev to 4 - 5000 rpm and 80 mph or more on even the slightest grade, if left to its own devices, before it will shift when it gets to a level stretch of road. If the road continues for a long stretch as an upgrade, my truck will never shift to 4th gear, 4 flashes including the latest for the 2 - 1 problem haven't solved my upshifting high rpm issues.

Yea!!!!!!!!!!! So this morning I went out briefly, 13 degrees out, and the downshifting was perfect both initially and after everything warmed up too! Still holds second gear till you are stopped. So the flash definitely worked for that; tomorrow when it is warmer I will experiment with up=shifting and acceleration and see if mine is better as you have experienced, looking forward to that! Dave

Sometimes I'm wondering if I'd rather have a good 6 speed than a questionable 8-speed. Chrysler/Jeep probably introduced the 8-speed with focus on fuel economy too soon without proper road testing or software knowledge? I'm looking for other explanations. Anybody with more profound knowledge on those issues or is there no issue?

Well, excuse me
Now why is Chrysler Jeep having such a hard time with that transmission?

This subject keeps coming back because people continue to have shifting issues with their 3.6L V6 transmissions!

True. But it's all speculation on our part and trial and error on Chrysler's part.

Re: It's Baaack....Rough Downshifting V6 Transmission

after I got my TSB for the v6 transmission yesterday, I can definitely see an improvement in upshifting in the lower gears. This car is pretty much perfect for me at this point!

I had 2 Rams before the current one, '95, and an '05. 225,000 miles between them and the only thing I did to the transmissions was change the fluid. The '05 had the delayed reverse engagement at a cold start, but I would start it in neutral instead of park, and that bypassed the problem.
My current truck is 8months old, 7,000 miles, 5 trips to the dealer with transmission flashes and it's still not shifting right. A valve body is on order, which I hope will make a difference. If not, I may pursue the Pa lemon law and see what that gives me as a resolution.

Man, it's been a long time for you. About time your Jeep became awesome.

Cheers!
