Jeep Grand Cherokee/Laredo Theft Deterrent System Question/Problem

I have a 2011 JGC/Laredo and per my build sheet my vehicle includes the Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System.

Vehicles Not Equipped With Keyless Enter-N-Go (I assume Keyless Enter-N-Go means push Start/Stop Engine button) I do not have the push Start/Stop Engine button which is I'm following this excerpt from the manual.

Per the Owners Manual;

The alarm will set when you use the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter to lock the doors and liftgate, or when you use the power door lock switch while the door is open. After all the doors are locked and closed, the Vehicle Security Light (located in the instrument cluster) will flash rapidly for about 16 seconds to signal that the Vehicle Security Alarm is arming. During this 16 second arming period, opening any door or the liftgate will cancel the arming. If the Vehicle Security Alarm success- fully arms, the Vehicle Security Light will flash at a slower rate to indicate the alarm is set.

My question is this;

So when I turn the key fob to start the ignition, all of the normal start up lights appear and or flash for their usual time frame of 1, 2, or 3 seconds including the red dot/circle for the theft deterrent in the cluster/display area. However when I lock my vehicle hitting the lock button once on the key fob per the manual the theft deterrent light does not come on of flash like the manual states. I'm afraid the theft system is not armed therefore rendering my vehicle open to theft besides the fact that the horn does alert me once I click the lock button on the key fob. Is this something I need to contact the dealer about? Am I correct in understanding the horn alert is totally separate from the theft deterrent security system? Could this be an easy fix? Or is there something wrong, not connecting or misfiring? Or am I to understand I don't have the theft system? I've read how easily the the line that connects the sound from the horn can easily be cut through the grill and I would die if my vehicle were ever stolen because this line was simply cut and my theft deterrent system is not active or working. I hope all this makes sense, I'm frazzled!!!
