Re: Jeep in for warranty repair and this is what Chrysler gives me.....

I know my dealer pays Enterprise rent-a-car $35 a day for rentals for warranty customers. They got me the same rate when I took the vehicle in to have all the extras put on.

I got a Dodge Ram pickup.

Don't be afraid to ask for a better vehicle. Most of the time I've had a rental for warranty issues when the dealer picks up the bill, Enterprise has done their best to get me into something that suits my needs. My previous GM dealer as well as my new Jeep dealer both use Enterprise.

No, not all Nissans are POSs, just this one I have. Case and point, I was trying to adjust the side view mirrors with the round button on the dash. As soon as I touched it the whole unit went through the dash.

Be thankful you got anything.

If ours goes to the dealer, i either sit at the dealership waiting all day for the car or they drive me home/uni where i am carless or i go sit in a play cafe with 3 toddlers all day who would rather be at home than stuck in 4 walls.

Be thankful for what your given, they dont have to give you anything.

Lexus REQUIRES their dealers have these loaner cars... that's not a dealer thing. That's a Lexus thing.

I feel your pain, though... I took mine in to have a minor rattle fixed today and they want to keep it overnight!! They sent me packing with an '09 Sebring. Lovely.

Yes, I am happy that they give me a free car, they certainly do not have to. And, I do not expect to recieve a Limited Grand Cherokee in return. But I do expect a comprable vehicle, meaning AWD. I rather recieve an 2001 Tacoma or Subaru Outback then a 2011 Elantra.

If my car would have been in the shop yesterday, as planned, I would not have made it into work today. If I wasn't going into work I wouldn't need a loaner.

And, for comparison, whenever we have taken one of our Mercedes in for service we get a new Benz, usually a GLK or C-class. When I was considering trading in our 2005 C230 Sedan on a new ML350 they gave me a 2006 ML500 for 10-days to see if I liked it. I doubt this is the norm, they are just an exceptional dealerhsip.

I am not sure if American Automakers will ever get there.
Exactly my point My Jeep was in for service yesterday and I had to drive home in that storm last night. My wife had to spend the night in Tysons mall, because I could not go pick her up in my little hot rod Versa. I do have to give it some new respect, it did not leave me stranded on the side of the road in my 4 hour, 15 mile commute.

I know when I owned my CLK55 it was like this at both dealers in Raleigh. They always had a rental waiting for me. Onetime I had to get the gauge cluster replaced at Christmas time they gave me a brand new CL500 and told me to bring it back after the new year.

Yeah, but the way Chrysler does it you're going to appreciate your jeep more when you get it back!

Yeah, Archer, you got that right! I had a PT Cruiser as a loaner. When I got my Jeep back it was like getting a new one all over again.
I had no problem with the PT, all I needed was transportation. One consolation was not seeing the gas gauge take a dive to the left!

Ehh well not necessarily, we are talking about warranty repairs as well not service. My Acura TL was purchased new for well under $40,000 and on multiple occassions I brought it in for minor warranty repairs and would leave in a brand new Acura MDX, or $50,000 Acura RL. This is just an example that a car that cost well under what the Overland costs, minor warranty work (squeeky center console), and they send me on my way AND overnight I might add in a brand new 50K car. Not only that but the original warranty is 5yrs 50K miles. And dont forget these are not rentals they dont send you off to Enterprise or something stupid like that there the dealers loaners.

Im not complaining here im just saying these american car manufacturers have such a long way to go because it really takes more than just a good car, but service is very important as well. Hoopefully my future Overland is a good one and I dont have to worry about that anyway :-)

I guess thats a positive way to look at it. It is very nice to get my Jeep back and drive it back off the lot.

I am not suprised by the new loaner, I was just impressed they let me borrow a vehicle because I was thinking of buying a new one. I remember GM use to let people take a car home overnight or over the weekend, but that was in the 90's/early 2000s.

Also $45K is not chump change, but it really isn't extraordinary prices these days. A fully load kia sorento is $38K now, some need get off their high horse that a $45K GC should give you luxury brand service.
Again, we are talking about warranty repairs. I do not expect to recieve a loaner car for an oil-change or to have my brakes dones. But if something with car is wrong, especially in the first 1500-miles of ownership I do expect some type of transportation - I didn't choose to not be with a vehicle, Chrysler/Jeep made that decision for me with a faulty part (or whatever).

Naturally, first year vehicles will have problems. And, again I am very happy with my Jeep. I probably would be posting this if it weren't January.

Also, its not $200 for an oil change in a Mercedes. Oil changes for my C-class were $69 and only needed to be done every 12,500-miles. My Range Rover on the other hand was $139 every 7,500-miles. At least for the '05 MB and the '06 RR these were part of scheduled service which you didnt have to pay in the warranty period. And, they included other inspections and services.

Another good example, Acura has great customer service.

And yes, we are talking Warranty service, I do not expect to get a paid loaner for routine service. I am inconveinienced by a faulty part on a brand new vehicle, therefore Chrysler needs to provide equal quality and service that would match the inconvenience.

I was to have my Jeep returned to me today, but of course recieved bad news that while dropping the transmission, my shifter cable was broken and a new part would not be delivered unitl Tues of next week. So in total, I will be with out my Jeep for a week. I immediately demanded a new loaner because I had plans to move some furniture this weekend and I needed a comparable vehicle to do so. Of course, they had nothing I could use to move furn, ie. van or truck so I was given a Seibring. The dealer is doing what they can to accomodate me, which i do appreciate. But so far my overall experience with Chrysler has not not been a happy one.
