Re: Jeep recalling 1.1 million shifters

that last recall with the uconnect I took my car in for an oil change and I had told them not to put fix the recall but was told it's against the law. I was told if there was an open safety recall they have to fix it, u can deny them do it but they also will not perform any service on your car.

So only when you are not clicked in will it Park itself upon opening the door.

Message comes up that says "Auto Park Engaged Press Brake + Push Button to Shift to Gear". All I had to do was press the brake of course and shift into gear after shutting my door to clear the message.

Not sure if this is a bug or not BUT even after shifting into D the message still said "Vehicle not in Park" instead of flashing back to the speedometer. I'll have to play with it again when I have more time.

Having not had the vehicle in Park or Reverse and trying to exit the vehicle before a few times - I like the safety feature. I've only had that happen a few times when wasn't in Park, but was easy to figure it out and quickly put it into Park.

But for those who need to pop back into the vehicle to move it ahead a foot when parking, it will be a pain 'cuz you'll need to fasten your seat belt to do it.

Thanks for the good info! Out of curiosity, how long did it take to get the recall done? I need an oil change but don't want to plan to sit and wait for this if it takes a long time....

Re: Jeep recalling 1.1 million shifters

FCA is paying the dealers for 2.3 hrs to do 4 flashes for the initial recall...about .5 hr per flash is about right start to finish, some longer, some shorter...

Believe it or not, TMZ is usually the first to report on high profile people accurately before other news sources. Yeah they still have junk articles, but they have come a long way from the tabloids of yesterday.

Not sure since they fixed a few other things along with other software updates. I left it there all day but the TSB states like 2.3 hours.

Mine as well. I did a VIN search. It does state that FCA does not as yet have a permanent fix.

Re: Jeep recalling 1.1 million shifters

someone famous dies and now they take it seriously? what a joke. first and foremost. if you are that impatient with your shifting, then thats your own fault. i have no problems with it. you mean to tell me that no one ever did this with a column shift automatic? BS! enough of this. these same people might have the same problems with a dial shift as well. learn to drive!

I have not fighting dog on either side of this except for keeping things achored in fact. This recall notice was issued June 13th...6 days before this incident.

FCA sent recall letters in May saying "no fix yet"....they then sent notice to dealers late May saying it will be a software messaging and shift strategy fix accelerated to jul/aug....then 6/13 they sent this recall notice saying the fix is now for 3.6/5.7 and jul/aug 3.0/6.4..

obviously they will re-review everything given this tragic case if proved related and change the fix as deemed appropriate.
