When I bought my 2011 WK2, I handed-down my 2000 JGC WJ to my 22 yr old son (happy boy!)
He is currently living and working in Boston and has no need or space for a vehicle. So, it sits here in my driveway, w/no garage.
I've lost charge on the battery once or twice, so now I give it a run every week or two to keep it charged and to exercise the mechanicals occasionally.
This week, the Jeep really complained when I tried to turn it over (cold morning). It did finally start, but I am concerned even my ~weekly jaunts are not enough to keep this guy charged.
Removing the battery when not in-use is just not feasible for us (no garage, pain in the butt, etc.). I'm, thinking of a battery tender, but hate the idea of stringing a >50ft extension cord out to the Jeep, especially in winter - my snow blower would eat that cord, no problem!
I saw a solar powered version over at BatteryTender.com, but I am concerned that this just might not provide enough juice to keep the batter charged.
I would probably mount this inside the windshield and simply route the wire to the battery terminals. Tinted windows a concern?
Any ideas to address my problem??
