Hi,

I just got my vehicle. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014 Laredo with the 8.4 inch screen. I purchased the backup camera from Justforjeeps.com They helped me with the install as the camera had some issue with the adapter that was provided. After doing this all of the steering wheel controls worked expcept for the audio controls on the rear of the steering wheel, ie. the volume and seek. Im not sure if this is related to that installation or something else could have gone wrong.

Has anyone had there volume and seek not working on the steering wheel? What did you do to fix it?

Thanks for the help!

I have the same problem, I picked up my brand new GC Limited 2 weeks ago, but from day one the volume control on the steering wheel didn't work. I just wish I discovered it when I picked up the car from the dealer. I'm taking it back tomorrow to have a look at...
Sorry to bring up an old topic, have you had it resolved?

My first 2014 Overland had similar problems. Actually, none of the steering wheel controls worked. It turned out to be a problem with the back up camera installation. The dealer swapped that vehicle out for an identical one which worked properly and I haven't had any problems since. As you just installed the camera, I would look at that as a probable cause.

There was actually a few problems.
1. The whole switch (volume and select).
2. The paddle shifters.
3. When I'd push up on the controls for the 7" screen, the radio station would change to AM.
4. The phone controls would work sporadically.

I took the vehicle back to the dealer and I'm happy to say that everything was resolved. Apparently there was a crushed wire underneath the horn. They found the problem straight away and I had my Jeep back within a couple of hours. Now the JGC is perfect and am now stress free. (Although I still haven't made the first payment on it yet :))

On the first Overland I had, the backup camera had been replaced. It took the dealer weeks to find that this is what was causing the problem with the steering wheel controls. I didn't have to worry about it as the dealer gave me a brand new replacement the next day. The worst part about that was having to go down and redo all the paperwork. However, curiosity caused me to inquire as to the cause of the problem on the first one.

I believe the reason for the audio problem has to do with the camera install. Mopar instructions have you remove a wire from a connector in the front pass footwell and replace it with a wire from the camera harness. The fix is to splice the wire that came out to the camera wire going in. The wire that molar has you take out is the wire that controls the audio on the steering wheel. This worked for me, there is also a video on you tube that shows the same fix. Just search camer install for a 2014 grand cherokee

Hope this helps
