JGC MIL saga
Unfortunately my first post is going to be a long winded rant. I bought a new JGC Limited Eco Diesel in November 2014. It now has just over 19K miles on it, if memory serves. I haven't had it for three weeks now so I can't remember for sure.
My first issue was the peeling of the clear coat on all four rims in March. The local dealer wouldn't cover that issue because I didn't buy the vehicle there. I tried, but they couldn't locate a diesel, even though the one I bought was sitting on a lot 30 miles away. When the local dealer refused to submit the warranty claim on the rims, I punched up Jeep Enhanced Customer Care on the UConnect. They confirmed that, since it was a cosmetic issue, I would have to go to the selling dealer. They gave me a tank of fuel and 8 free oil changes for my troubles. Rims were replaced free of charge. And now I am on their radar.
Fast forward to the end of May. The day before a 1,000 mile week-long road trip, on comes the MIL. I log into the forum and get this feeling of foreboding, girding myself for a couple trips back to the local dealer. I had a friend check the code - P20EE - and he says it's okay to drive on my trip, I call the dealer and they give me an appointment for a month later, on 6/25.
I take the Jeep in on 6/25, they reprogram the PCM and send me on my way, saying that I should be all set. A week later the light comes back. I call and they set me up for another appointment four weeks later, on 7/30.
Jeep Enhanced calls me, seeing I have been having issues. I express my displeasure about the length of time it takes to get an appointment, and they offer me an extended warranty 5 yrs/100k miles. I accept.
On 7/30 the dealer finds a leaking gasket, claiming that it could be causing the MIL. I explain that they're probably going to have to replace the converter, but they just laugh. "Never seen any issues with the converters." The gasket has to be ordered, due in on 8/4, but the advisor says they're now booking into September - they're getting hammered by recalls. The hacking security issue I guess. I had already updated the Uconnect myself for that issue.
Jeep Enhanced calls me, I say I can't believe it will take over three months to get the MIL issue resolved. They promise to call the dealer to get me in sooner than Sept. Dealer calls on 8/4, says the gasket's in, and can I bring the Jeep in the next day. Of course I can.
Drop off the Jeep at 8am on the 5th, for what the advisor says is a two hour job. I call at noon so see how it's going and he says "not so good". The tech broke off three bolts inside the converter when removing it to get to the gasket. Converters are on national back order. ETA for the part is 8/24.
The advisor offers a rental car - he had to call all over to find a Chrysler product - and sets up a Charger at Hertz. I had to go pick it up, which was no biggie since it's within walking distance of my house. I show up at Hertz. "We don't have any Chargers. In fact we don't have any Chrysler products at all. How about a Nissan Rogue?" Whatever. Advisor calls me the next morning to check on my Charger. I told him I was surprised to learn that Chrysler was now building Nissans. He wasn't amused.
So Jeep Enhanced expedites the converter, finding one at another dealer for delivery on the 19th. I stop by the dealer on the 20th to see when my vehicle would be ready, and he says they shipped the wrong part. They got an elbow, not a converter. He suggests I call Jeep Enhanced to see what's going on, and why they ordered the wrong part, which I do. Jeep Enhanced claims they expedited the part using the PN that the dealer gave them. They're pointing fingers at each other. Of course the converter is still on back order. ETA is now Thursday 8/27. I am not holding my breath.
Jeep Enhanced is calling me with more free offers later this week. I just want the damn Jeep back. To be continued.....
