jiggling suspension

Hi I got a 2011 GC with 105k and when I hit bumps the suspension can feel shaky or jiggling like something is loose. Not all bumps just certain ones. Its not a harsh ride but it does feel different.

Thoughts before I bring it in

thanks

Blown shock? Check to see if any are leaking.

Re: jiggling suspension

Thanks I will look at it. To further describe it feels like some bumps are a double hit. Like when you hit a golf ball and then hit it again with your club while in the air during your swing. It is tough to describe but just does not feel right.

Re: jiggling suspension

That definitely sounds like you have a blown shock.

Re: jiggling suspension

Thanks I will take a look, UGH! I imagine the front is much more difficult than rear. This is probably not covered by an expired warranty. Also will it do damage to ride on for another week? And aftermarket or OEM.

Re: jiggling suspension

In an effort to hopefully figure this out I have attached four pictures one for each strut/shock. I see no evidence of leaking but maybe somebody much smarter than myself can spot something

Re: jiggling suspension

according to NTB I have a blown passenger side strut. They want to install Monroe 72546 at $251.15 per strut plus installation and linkage. I have not read good things on Monroe's and the price seems high.

Recommendations? I might just by something online and take it local. I went to NTB as they mounted my tires and I have free rotation, therefore I figured they could also test.

Re: jiggling suspension

2011 WK2 with 48K miles and no quadralift. Took for oil change / tire rotation last night to find blown/leaking passenger side strut also. Shop wants to install Monroes to the tune of $850 out the door. Told them "not today" Looking at after market struts. Can't be that difficult to change. Will pay for alignment after.

Re: jiggling suspension

Good luck I have a mechanic that quotes me $550 with OEM struts, NTB wanted $1100 with Monroe's

I am going to try and snake it in under the TSB with dealership on Monday although i am over warranty by 5000 miles

Re: jiggling suspension

Any luck getting this done under TSB? I got struts from Rock Auto for $87.00 each on sale. Going to install them with RRO leveling kit in near future.

Re: jiggling suspension

Shocks and struts are considered to be normal wear items and wouldn't be covered under warranty or a TSB.

Re: jiggling suspension

no luck with TSB. After replacing front struts the ride is better but still not great. There is still some jiggling/basketballing. I did install the OEM hitch in the spring and removed the suitcase for two magnaflows but I don't think that would cause this. will be going rear shocks soon
