I've never felt/heard what you all are talking about and I am on the interstate with my wk2 most of the time.

4 wheel drive?
It's subtle, till you notice it...

I had another person listen, and they definetly heard it as well. You definetly have to actively listen for it... I don't know what's causing it, or if I should be concerned.

Any update with this? I noticed this more then ever on a recent hwy trip and it's really starting to annoy me. I'm going to take it to the dealer soon, but really want to try to figure out what's causing it to provide some direction. If I can get my hands on a set of 18s with different tires, I may swap them out just to compare. Mine will do it regardless of coasting, decel, accel, etc.

Re: Just got my first jeep - 2 problems/questions

What happens if you guys shift into neutral when the noise is really obvious? Just trying to eliminate the engine or exhaust from the equation. you may have to do this while going downhill in order to keep the speed constant. if the noise stops then its exhaust or engine, if it doesn't stop then its wheels, differential or transfer case.
you will need to rev the motor in order to shift back into gear or just coast to a stop.

Re: Just got my first jeep - 2 problems/questions

I have had the same problem and it was driving me crazy, I went to three dealership before the problem was fixed. The first dealership said that this is normal and there is no fix the second couldnt hear what I described and the third dealer replaced the bearings on the right side. The replacement of the bearings fixed my problem and its exactly the same noise as you all described.
When the mechanic took my jeep for a ride and he did hear it and thought it was weird, put it on the hoist and used his Stethoscope . He told me that he didnt hear anything different from the left side but went ahead and replaced the bearing.
Try this the next time you are on the freeway, trying swerving to the left and see if it quiets down , if so go get your bearing changed
