Re: just had to be towed. words of warning
So, I had this happen to me a couple times in a day back in Sept. In both cases everything worked, even remote start until I hit the break peddle to press the start button and the truck would shut off. Do that 2 or 3 times and the car will not restart at all. Door locks worked and stuff, but all power to accessories were non functional. In all cases, the warning on the dash was "Key FOB not detected".
The first time, I was able to start by pushing the start button with the fob. I stopped to get gas and it did the same thing to me again, but this time the fob deal didn't work. Called a tow truck and the guy took one look and started to walk away and was refusing to tow it because it was stuck in gear. I told him about the release and we popped it and he pulled it right up. He didn't know about it, so he was actually happy he learned something out of it.
Dumped it off at the dealership and they ended up getting it into the shop the next day because I had the windows partially down and rain was coming. They disconnected the battery, waited 5 minutes, and then hooked it back up and everything worked just fine. Haven't had the problem since. So now I keep something to unhook the battery to reboot the computer system which is what I have been told a couple times now at the dealership.
It was good for me as I found out where the two points on the front were.
