When she returned, opened door with door handle (proximity key) and the panic alarm went off. She could not stop it with the fob. After several embarrising moments during jurassic world, ha, she was able to start the jeep and drive off while the alarm was still going off. It finally shut off after a few seconds of driving.
Are these issues happening with both Keyfob units? If no then try using the other keyfob and see if the problems happen, may be a defective keyfob unit. Now if both units are having issues call the dealer since it sounds like something with the vehicle itself needs checked.

Re: Key Fob

It kind of concerns me she could drive away with the alarm going.

The starter should have been disabled until the alarm was turned off.

Something's definitely screwy with that vehicle.

Re: Key Fob

Both fobs are acting the same way, dealer is thinking a loose connection. Have an appointment on 6/22, will let everyone know...

Re: Key Fob

Also have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with keyfob issues. Usually the problem is the car has a bit of dementia and can't remember the seat positions for 1 and 2 correctly It will hold the settings for a day or two. However, last night we had a new problem. When my husband went to lock the car, key in hand, by pushing the button on the door, it wouldn't work. He thought maybe he had not left the car in park and got in and tried to start the car. Then the "no keyfob detected" message came up. Car is locked up tight and won't start. Have called a tow truck. This is a lot of money to spend for a car that won't start!! Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Key Fob

I had "no start" key-fob issue with early 2014 Overland. Occasionally, key fob would be sensed to unlock doors but not start vehicle with "no key fob detected" message. Also would not start with keyfob next to START button or with different keyfob. Replaced key fob batteries, still occasionally no start. Dealer was no help other to sell me a 3rd key fob in the chance that both that came with vehicle could be bad. Discovered that it only happened if JGC was parked for between 5 and about 20 minutes (quick stop at store or post office), never if OFF for only a few minutes or longer than 20 minutes. If it gave "No Key Fob Detected message" waiting 20+ minutes and trying again and all is OK.
Dealer and factory support was sympathetic, but no real help. Final fix for this and other early 2104 issues was factory buy-back at 12,000 miles with replacement late 2014 Summit being perfect for the past 19,000 miles.

Re: Key Fob

Thanks. Our JGC is only 6 months old with aprox. 4000 miles on it. It has been in the shop way too often, mostly for keyfob issues. What I simply cannot understand is why any vehicle with the name "Jeep" on it would not have a way to start it manually. I would hate to take my Jeep up a mountain road somewhere only to be stuck there because my rugged, go anywhere vehicle wouldn't start! This is a great car, but this is also a very serious issue. Chrysler needs to take action on this one.

My phone is still connected to the wall with a wire. Don't have, nor want, a cell phone, dumb phone, smart phone or Tracphone. I have a 2014 GC with some buttons on the dash & steering wheel that are useless. Got a letter in the mail today from my Chrysler Naviagation Team, that basically says if I don't update my GS maps I'm gonna die. I never knew I had such a team and want them as much as I do one of those phones.

Re: Key Fob

Got my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee back from the dealer yesterday. Car was in the shop for 10 days. The techs finally decided my keyfob issues were coming from a faulty RF Hub. Of course, the part was backordered. Anyway, the car and the keyfob seem to be working perfectly at the moment. Time will tell. Got my fingers crossed!!
