Key Fob

So my brand new overland left me stranded with the no key fob detected message. I tried everything and the software was wacked. Ended up getting towed to dealer. The next day the dealer said nothing is wrong, no codes are set and everything works as it should. Whats up with that?

Re: Key Fob

Let's start with the obvious question first... where was the key fob when you attempted to start the vehicle?

Give us a clearer picture of exactly what happened.

If you think the battery in the fob may be dead or fob got wet as a backup you can hold the fob right beside the start button, press the start button and jeep should start. This prevents dead fob batterys or malfunctioning fobs from leaving you stranded somewhere.

Re: Key Fob

If you had it in your pocket with a cell phone the signal could have been compromised. This is a known problem.

I never understood why anyone would want to put their keys in the same pocket as their cell phone.

I'd be afraid of wrecking my screen.

Not if you have a flip phone.

Re: Key Fob

What's a "flip phone"? I'm old enough that I owned a bag phone.

I've had a similar problem recently, I pulled the codes but don't have them. I had my key in my hand and pushed start only to here it crank then start for a second then stall. Next time was it just cranking for a second then nothing. One time it showed "no key detected" but others only the red light in the tach flashed.. At all times I could lock and unlock doors and put Jeep in position two, everything except start. But all it needed was a few minutes to reset itself of sorts. Remote start works every time, also I find that the second time I pulled the start button and used the key and it worked fine, illogical.
Fresh batteries, door closed, no phone close, 84* out, 2011 X

Thanks guys, I feel the OP's pain as I'm going to be 45 miles into the woods soon.

There was a time in my life when all phones were connected to the wall with a wire, and when you picked up the handset, a voice said, "number please".

Re: Key Fob

Bones, I had the key fob in my hand, no cell phone with me at all...

Another issue came up yesterday, my wife went to a drive in movie with the kids. Packed lot, and when she left for popcorn, she locked doors with key fob. When she returned, opened door with door handle (proximity key) and the panic alarm went off. She could not stop it with the fob. After several embarrising moments during jurassic world, ha, she was able to start the jeep and drive off while the alarm was still going off. It finally shut off after a few seconds of driving.
