Key fob not recognized

Vehicle is a 2011 GC Overland Summit:

Peridically (and recently more frequently) when attempting to start the vehicle, no start and the words "key fob not recognized" appears in the annunciator panel. After a few minutes of fiddling with the lock/unlock
(which sometimes does not work either) everything seems happy and away we go.

According to the Owners Manual it states that periodically one must "charge" the key fob by placing it in the ignition. Well THERE AIN'T NO IGNITION TO PUT THE FOB INTO.!!!

Seems to happen with both sets of fobs.

Anyone experience this.???

The botton cap pops off and the Fob can be placed in the dash and turned when there is a battery failure. I honestly dont think the Fobs get changed properly this way... you probably just need the battery replaced in the fob.
