Question Key Fobik did not work over the weekend.

Well, I drove down to AL this weekend to pull a trailer back up here. From the moment I pulled into my parents drive way and until I left, my key fob decided it didn't want to work. I researched on a few forums and did a few things some people suggested.

*I could only unlock the Jeep with the metal key and after pulling on the handle, it would set off the alarm. After I bought new batteries, I found that I could still use the key fob if i touched it to the glass... also, the door handle touch unlock feature would only work if the key was placed against the glass as well as if that was the only way for the Jeep to detect the key.)

First, I drove it around town. Nothing
Then, I bought battery replacements. Nothing
*Around this time, I found that I could still use the key fob if I was using it inside the vehicle or placed the fob on any glass window.

Later, I pulled the Neg off the battery for about 10 min. Nothing
Last, I drove back to DC and BAM!! it works again...

No idea. I has happened to me once before going to work. I stopped at a Starbucks and the same symptoms showed up. But a quick drive to work after cleared them up. It's working now so who knows. Would be pointless to go to the dealer because I can't replicate the issue. Maybe some Alabama voodoo or something...

Sounds like something at your parents place or near by is interfering with the frequency that the fob communicates on, this is why it works better while in the car because it acts like a faraday cage.

Then it would have to be all of Alabama doing it... lol. I said out loud that maybe all the salt on the jeep (it was almost caked on from the drive down) was acting like a faraday cage but after a quick rinse with the hose, no bueno. I seriously didn't start working until I pulled into my apartment garage in VA...

I had an epiphany this morning. You might be right about something at my parents house. They are cheap and get there internet through an antenna mounted on the side of their house. (It's about fast enough to load webpages and stream Youtube at the lower settings... lol). I will have to find out what frequency range the antenna operates. It's sort of like a Line of Sight LOS antenna and transmits about 5 miles away.

*Does anyone know the frequency range on our KEY FOBIKS?
