I dont know about you but my "normal car" doesnt run very well without its "normal key" in the "normal ignition".

Re: Key left the car ?

Personally I agree that this is a problem that doesn't need a solution beyond common sense. Their argument, however, is that since it's not possible for the passenger to accidentally leave the car with your NORMAL key, the comparison isn't apt.

Re: Key left the car ?

Hey I've gotten this a few times recently. Never happened until they did a software update at my last oil change. Needless to say I'm going back. Key still in the cup holder and out of nowhere the "key has left the vehicle" message pops up.

Re: Key left the car ?

I use to get this when my wife would get out of the vehical with her key, since I usually keep mine in my left pants pocket. Since they did the software update specifically for the key not found/left pants pocket issue i 've not seen it any more.

x2. With the WK2 if you shut off the car with out the key in range then the car will not start up but if the car is already on, then your ****ed if you get car jacked

Which is just fine by me, that means they hopefully leave me and or my family alone and will still be screwed the first time they try to turn off the vehical

And from a practical safety stance, if the system errors out while I'm on the highway I don't want the engine to die...that would be bad

Re: Key left the car ?

That is what happened to me one time with my mini cooper. Backed out of the garage then forgot something inside the house. Put the keys on the counter and grab the set to my LR on the way out. Drove to work and shut off the car then realized when I couldn't lock the car I didn't have the correct keys. Had to get a ride back home to get the keys.

With the jeep this shouldn't happen since it beeps at you constantly if the key is not inside the car. That is what the mini should have done, it never even said on the screen no key was found.
