Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

I had a problem one night with my October build JGC... I started it with the remote start, hopped in (the handle unlocked when I grabbed it), the put my foot on the brake, hit the start button, and it refused to let me shift out of park. I then noticed the message about having no key. It also refused to let me turn the ignition off from the start/stop button. After a little panic, I was able to turn the car off using the remote starter button on the remote and then was able to restart the engine with the start button.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

I have the same key for my truck as you guys do with your WK2's and similar symptons with the FOB.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

Here's my update, happened this morning. Will be taking the car back for a sixth time.

- Remote start car two minutes prior to leaving.
- Proximity senses key and unlocks when handle is contacted.
- Start button not responsive, numerous attempts failed. Noticed a faint high pitched noise (capacitor?) after each press.
- Exited car to test fob buttons; remote start to turn off, lock, unlock, lift gate, all failed. Engine still running
- Removed start button and inserted fob to turn car on, engine still running at this time.
- Arrived at work and removed key to turn off car.
- Re-inserted start button to test function and car would not start, same electrical noise heard every time button is pressed.
- Unable to lock car using fob or handle lock button.
- Tested fob keys again; all failed.
- Went into work mad.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

Service Manager contacted Mopar and their response this time was to replace the WIN module and both keys. Car will be ready on Thursday, keep you guys updated.

Update 1/6/11:
Here's what's on the work order:
Traced particular problem to the "WIN" node for key code reception. Also found harmonics of one ofthe customers keys incorrect for the vehicle - will operate but at borderline of understandable code for the system. Replaced the WIN module and reprogrammed to the vehicle. Ordered new fob to replace problem fob.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

Ugh. I just posted a new thread about this. I'm in the same boat. I had the "key damaged" message on the EVIC. Not sure of my build date, but thought I saw something on my paperwork with November 18th. FOB is completely dead.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

Three weeks later and it's back. Had to leave the Jeep at work and get a ride home. Just to recap; my keys, WIN, and PEM, have been replaced. What else is there?

Unfortunately it might come to that, I'm going to allow one more opportunity to get everything fixed:

Key fob not recognized
Fan speed all over the place
Remote start aborting due to "hood ajar"

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

This was one of my big fears with this jeep... I traded in my Mercedes CLS which uses the same door handle/push button system. I had key fob problems the entire time I owned the vehicle. Multiple handles replaced, batteries every three months, strange key not found and key in vehicle messages. Many times I would have to insert the key to start the car. Is that even possible? Haven't looked closely but didn't notice a place to do a manual key start.

I was really hoping after after 5 years they would have fixed these problems, never have an issue with the keyless go in my cadillac.

There may be nothing wrong with battery!
I had the same issue with one of my FOB; I found another post about this (do a search for FOB) the fix for me was OPEN UP THE FOB, PULL OUT BATTERY, WAIT 5 SECONDS TO RESET, REPLACE.
I have had NO problems since then.
I hope this helps you.

Re: Keyless go/lock issues...

Service manager at the dealership called me saying the car is fixed and ready for pick up, he's confident that everything will be okay. They've been studying it since 1/29/11, working with Chrysler/Mopar, a zone technician, and an engineer. The conclusion this time is a bad batch of keys that were made which includes my originals and first replacements.

Hopefully this is the last time for this issue, going back eight times is enough even for a patient customer. If this happens one more time then, "Lemon Law" here I come!

All I got for the entire ordeal were four complimentary oil changes.
