Keyless start 2014 JGC problem

Key fob my wife uses intermittently fails to start vehicle. Key fob is in purse on passenger seat and brake pedal is depressed. Is this a battery issue, and if so how do you replace?

Thanks !

I don't know if it is a battery problem or not, but the battery is easy to replace..

Remove the key the fob. Use the tip of the key to pry the case apart using the recess next to where the key slides in. Replace battery and reassemble.

Re: Keyless start 2014 JGC problem

If the key is next to her cellphone, that could be causing interference. I've heard stories of people having problems with door locks and such with the fob in the same pocket with a cellphone.

I have had the same issue occur intermittently as well, but I also find that the brake pedal appears to be depressed all the way down even before I attempt to start the vehicle. This usually occurs after not driving for a day or two. Both my key fob and my wife's key fob have brand new batteries and we keep our cell phones separate from the key fob. I have found that the only way to start the vehicle is by using the remote start button on the key fob.

remote might be in a sleep mode to save battery power after "x" amount of hours of inactivity. does it happen if you use the actual remote to unlock the door... meaning if it happens again, try hitting unlock on the remote, then starting it normally and see if that makes a difference.
