Leaking Axle seal/Low Power Steering Fluid 2014 WK@
Went to my local mechanic for an oil change on the 2014 JGC. He found the front differential wet and the left side axle seal wet as well in addition to very low power steering fluid in the reservoir. Suggested I go to my dealer ASAP and they did find a leaking front left side axle seal that was replaced. They checked for a power steering leak and could not find any sign of one so they refilled the reservoir and told me everything is fine. I am still concerned. How does a "closed" system lose power steering fluid? The service writer gave me a lame excuse that since it is electro hydraulic fluid it can get used up by the system. That makes no sense to me. I have a feeling that if there is no leak, that the system was never filled correctly from the factory...and if there is a leak, the fluid should go down again. Why this was never noticed before is beyond me. The car has been to the dealer often enough for recalls and updates. The lease is up in a few months so I am hoping it won't be a problem short term. Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem?
