Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

This is a quote from the Jeep web site when you drill down to the "Interior" and then "Storage": "Grand Cherokee comes standard with handy driver and passenger-side lighted storage cubbies with map pockets." They should be there folks...and they should work. My Laredo X V-6 was manufactured 10/10 and it has them and they work. I could not find any reference to the LEDs in the door handles but mine also has those.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

Still have not heard back from my dealer about the field engineer. I think its a widespread issue because if you have them your like, oh those are cool lights. And if u dont have them..you dont even know your supposed to. A woman i work with doesnt have them on either and she knew nothing until i told her about them

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

I have a Laredo with the X Package. Build date is 7/10 and my LEDs in the doors do not work. I have been following this thread for a while and brought the Jeep in for service on Wednesday. I printed the earlier post from heywaitfourme with the instructions. The Service Writer did not bother to keep the instructions and did not appear too interested in fixing this issue. Guess I will have to wait and see, but I am not too hopeful at this point.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

Any dealers who are saying there are no lights are just too lazy to actually try the instructions!

I had to take my Jeep to a second dealer, explained to them the issue and the lack of help at the first, and it was fixed!

The instructions below abosolutely work! The module names etc may not be exact but the procedure is correct. There is no data stored under the ambient lighting module, so when it the tech does the generic reset it somehow fixes the issue. My tech said it was odd that this worked but it does.

My Service invoice reads:
"Reprogrammed TIPM on Line #3 - Everything now OK"

Good luck guys.... this drove me nuts for a month after purchase. You paid for it so don't give up!

When the scan tool is connected to the jeep, it brings up a bunch of modules, like a wiring schematic. The Tech simply went into the TIPM box, went into the ambient lighting, and noticed it had NOTHING for it. So, he went back into the TIPM main page, and found the button named, RECONFIGURE. He pressed that, disconnected the scan tool, turned on my lights and they worked.

My work order said, TIPM RESET!

The service writers name is David D' Ambrosio, the Tech's number is 435. The dealership is Rick Hendrick Jeep in North Charleston, SC. The number directly to David is 843 - 818 - 5858. He said he would be more than welcome to assist any other dealerships in solving this issue.

I have to give a little bit of credit, thanks to this dealership. They have been absolutely awesome from day one. They gave me what I paid for my trade, and also discounted the jeep down to $1000 below USAA pricing. When my WIN went out, they got me a rental, kept me updated daily and had it fixed in 8 days, including the back-ordered key fobs. Simply awesome. They also worked on the ambient lighting twice. Last week when I got my FREE oil change, and yesterday, after they completed a rapid fix for my upper strut mounts.

simple schematic the service writer drew to help explain to my wife.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

I would consider taking it to another dealer if you have the option. I was brushed off probably 4 times at the dealer where I purchased my Jeep, finally took it elsewhere and they actually seemed intrigued and wanted to get to the bottom of it. They were in there less than 15 min and the lights were up and running no problem using the instructions above. The diagram is not perfect but there is definitly a button to reconfigue or reset the TIPM and this did the trick for me.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

When they did the reset it did not look like anything changed in the diagnostics tool, but once it was disconnected the lights came up just like they should.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

I wanted to update the group. Jeep went in to the dealer on 7/27 and was returned on 8/2 (multiple issues). As I suspected, the work order read “Vehicle not equipped with this option”. Earlier in the day I visited the jeep.com website and printed the page showing ALL GCs come with the LEDs as standard equipment (thanks to jerryw1000). I showed this to the Service Adviser along with the instructions for the fix (thanks to heywaitfourme). The Adviser met with the Service Manager and they decided to give it a try. The Tech (mechanic) called me into the shop to ask what lights I was talking about. I showed him where they were located (thanks to Rangersplash88). After about 20 minutes the Tech came back to report the lights were on. The Service Manager was surprised and told me the Sales staff was not aware it was standard equipment and not an option. My thanks to all, particularly the 3 members mentioned above.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

Good work on your part, SpongeBob. Sometimes it is the customers who have to help train the dealer folks. it's not a good situation, but hopefully it will help other buyers who have the same problem.

Re: LED in the door **UPDATE**

Checked my vehicle and the lights are indeed on and only really noticeable when driving in the country where there are no streetlights.
