i took my jeep in to have the Led lights turned on. They did and ESC update and said that should fix it. It will Not fix it. The TIMPA has to be reconfigured. A simple flash will not fix the issue. Jeep customer care now has a policy and procedure that they can send to the dealer that tells them step by step how to reconfigure it. Mine works great now.
For those of you who have had your L.E.D.s turned on, please post the dealership in which had accomplished this. I attempted to have my local dealership do this, and they came up empty. They called Jeep customer care and they offered to open a case and have a tech keep my jeep for a few days to figure the problem out. The service manager asked if I knew anyone who has had theirs turned on, and if so to get the name of the dealership that did it. He would just call them up and ask them how they did it.

Thank you very much!! Once I get my lights turned on, I'll see if the service writer will email me the steps/directions so that I can put them up on here. He said he would, so we shall see.
I rented a 2011 base model a month back and liked it so much I ended up buying a Laredo X two weeks ago. I noticed in the rental the LED lights worked and thought it was a pretty cool feature. After purchasing my vehicle, I noticed the next night that the LED's were in fact not working. I called my buddy who sold me the vehicle and let him know. He said of course "are you sure it has that feature?" So i started doing research and found this forum and sent him this thread and he told me to bring it in.
Sure enough the maintenance guys had no clue what he or I was talking about and literally had to read the thread to understand.
After taking it in to a new dealer and explaining in detail that it appears to be the TIPM causing the issue they decided to... order in new door cards. I said over and over that others were having it fixed this way and even talked to a US based service manager who had already fixed one GC - but still no go! They did hook up the wifi device to check modules for updates but it came up empty. When I asked if they could reload the current file they didn't seem to think that could be done.
Chrysler Canada and Chrysler USA must be on different service bulletin systems or something becuase nobody seems to know what to do up here and cannot find anything within the "system".
I am thankfull this new dealer is giving it an honest shot and are tying to fix the problem. They have at least acknowledged there is an issue and told me they are looking into it further so I'm going to wait it out for now. Still don't quite understand why they can't blank out the module and re-config like everyone else who has had it fixed is being told.
I go in Thursday. The dealership is calling Crystal Lake Dodge, and will print out a copy of the instructions they recieve for me!! I hope to have great news come thrusday evening.
My lights are fixed. There are not written instructions, so I'll try my best to describe what the service writer showed/described to me.
When the scan tool is connected to the jeep, it brings up a bunch of modules, like a wiring schematic. The Tech simply went into the TIPM box, went into the ambient lighting, and noticed it had NOTHING for it. So, he went back into the TIPM main page, and found the button named, RECONFIGURE. He pressed that, disconnected the scan tool, turned on my lights and they worked.
My work order said, TIPM RESET!
The service writers name is David D' Ambrosio, the Tech's number is 435. The dealership is Rick Hendrick Jeep in North Charleston, SC. The number directly to David is 843 - 818 - 5858. He said he would be more than welcome to assist any other dealerships in solving this issue.
I have to give a little bit of credit, thanks to this dealership. They have been absolutely awesome from day one. They gave me what I paid for my trade, and also discounted the jeep down to $1000 below USAA pricing. When my WIN went out, they got me a rental, kept me updated daily and had it fixed in 8 days, including the back-ordered key fobs. Simply awesome. They also worked on the ambient lighting twice. Last week when I got my FREE oil change, and yesterday, after they completed a rapid fix for my upper strut mounts.
simple schematic the service writer drew to help explain to my wife.
Glad to be of assistance. The more I tinker with the jeep, the more I'll post on here. I'm a very hands on, person. My parents used to say I have F#(#-with-it-itis...since I never LEFT anything alone, ever.
:thumbsup:I got my doors LED turn on today after did battle with the service " Mule visor" and the service manager,I want to thank the member here that posted the procedure.
Finally mine are working. I had to convince the service guy to do the reconfigure and he finally gave it a shot. He said he tried it twice and the still didn't work. The dealership called Star who told them to return the vehicle to me while the would investigate. When I got into the car I turned on the lights and they worked. I don't think the service guy knew what he was looking for. Can't wait until it gets dark now so I can see the full effect.
I took my Laredo X in to my dealer today and had them apply the Reconfig fix, and now I too have door LED's working! My dealer has been very willing to take care of any TSB's that apply to me just for my asking. Even this fix (which should be a TSB), they took my printout of the description given earlier and followed it as listed! The entire visit took me maybe 40 minutes, and that was on a Saturday at that!

Well first hello to all! I picked up my Laredo X package on friday and I love it. But.....yesterday it blew a heater hose and it needed to be towed, so began my jeepless internet searching night and I found this site....now from all of these posts i gather the leds are standard? I called the service guy this morning and told him about them not being on and what to do and he said he would check. So he called and said it was all done and i asked about the lights and he said they pulled the panel off and there were no lights? Called Jeep and they said it is an option and not standard. I looked in the door slots and I think I can see the LED, so is it standard or not?
UPDATE..... Ok, four calls to jeep later... I tried the VIN number options and told them about the LBRS code, which mine has but refers to the LED aimable lights. They searched and searched and found nothing refering to those lights. All they can figure is that mine is an earlier build and they started to get put in sometime after. When I look in the slots on the door and pocket I can see a bluish wire, so is it fiber optic or actual LED? and how easily can it be seen if it is an LED?
