Next day thy ordered a new control module.

That brings us to today. Finally got the call that it was done a week, a day, and a door panel later. After talking to the Service writer, the parts manager and the mechanic, it turns out that none of that was even neccesary. The fix was to simply reconfig the TIPM (Total Integrated Power Module).

I mentioned that I was going to post this fix here when I was asking the guys about what fixed it and the service writer said he expected to see a TSB for this issue as soon as it made it's way through the process. No idea how long that is but since the fix is pretty straight forward and doesn't require parts it's probably going to be a easy thing to get the service shop to do. That or just wait for the TSB to hit and it should be even more of a no brainer.

Oh and as if all that was not enough the replacement door panel has a 1/4 inch split in the vinyl and the top rear right by the window so I'll need to bring it back yet again when the replacement for the replacement door panel comes in Uhhg, next time I'm going to let someone else take the guini pig role.

Hope everyone elses gets fixed minus the drama, I'm sure this will help.

BD
Good stuff! Thanks, Blackwolf. I eagerly await the TSB. Can't wait to see what the lights will look like in person.

They are nice, not so bright as to be distracting just enough to not have to search for the pocket or door handle at night

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

We originally purchased a GC (base model) then upgraded to the X one month later. Our original GC had the lights and we noticed the X did not. We took it to the dealer and it was fixed within a couple hours. We love our X.

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

I had my WK2 at the dealer to have a blemish in the interior taken care of and I mentioned that these lights were not working. They insisted that the vehicle did not come equipped with the lights?? (Laredo X) Guess I'll have to bring it up again next time.

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

My dealer was skeptical about fixing the LEDs without an official Technical Service Bulletin, but they re-flashed my TIPM on Monday and poof -- LED lights in my doors. And they're pretty nice. The dealer was really happy to learn the trick.

Thanks again for the advice.

And it is a Laredo X and they DEFINITELY come with the lights.

Does anyone know what the build code is for the LED lights in the panels?

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

Well I was back at the dealer and even after finding a base Laredo and another Laredo X on the lot with the working lights the pig-headed service manager refuses to accept that they came on my vehicle. I even pointed out that the physical LEDs are installed in the door but he wouldnt even get out of his chair to come and have a look. Exceptional service! THEN once I got home I made it pitch black in the garage and my lights are ON!, just extremely dim like others have experienced.

Makes ya feel real good about spending a lot of $$ on vehicle just over a month ago only to have the service manager refuse to even look at the problem. Now I can't wait until he has to come back with his tail between his legs

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

I also have a Laredo X with no working door lights. I took it in on Monday and had them re-flash the TIPM but for whatever reason they still aren't working.
