Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

Hearing all this makes me love my dealer all the more. Not only did their service department play ball (even though they were skeptical about any information found on the internet), they were really into finding out what was going on. I know they had to spend a few minutes to update everything to get the LED Door Lights to work. Part of the process involved them having to go back to the wi-fi device attached to the Jeep to do something. I wish I had watched a bit closer (or remembered a bit better).

And no, there are no LED lights in the back doors of my Laredo X -- which makes my son kind of angry.

Wow, what a contrast to the service I have recieved. Be very thankfull!

It has now gotten to the point where it's almost amusing how unwilling the service manager is to help me. Even after speaking to him again (3rd time) and explaining that the lights are physically there and somewhat working he simply says "That option does not come up under your VIN so there is nothing we can do about it" ??? and will not even look at my Jeep! - How the hell this guy became a SERVICE manager is way beyond me.

If anyone knows exaclty what must be done to fix this I would really appreciate it if you would post the info. When I mentioned the TIPM (Total Integrated Power Module) they looked at me like I was from another planet so either this isnt the issue or they are completely out to lunch when it comes to WK2's (I'm obviously leaning towards the latter).

I suggest going to a different dealer/calling Chrysler about the service manager.

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

Good advice... I will definitly be taking it to a new dealer after this service. Unfortunatly they already have parts on order for my Jeep left over from the second visit, otherwise I would have been long gone!

I have just returned from dealership. I told service mgr. about this post, and my LEDs not working, and described the fix for it just like the others here have informed. I said the TIPM needed to be reset, and not an ESC flash. He looked around a bit on his computer, and took my Jeep. I could see the mechanic had some sort of computer hooked up to it. Later he came out of the back and I asked him if the mgr had told him to reset the TIPM? He said "oh, your lights were working, they're just really dim. They're not meant to be bright".
Right here, I said to myself, 'here we go'! I calmly said, 'No, they were not working'. Luckily, I had previosly taken a picture of my driver armrest area!
I attached the pic, as you can see, there is NO door handle illumination.
I have to wait till dark and see, but not sure what to think?

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

Mine is at the dealer and they are supposed to work on this tomorrow, my dealer is pretty good but I'm not expecting much. I called Jeep CC and they called the dealer. I'll find out tomorrow. My Limited LED's are nice and bright. But if it isn't dark you would never know they were there. I'm not going to make a big stink about it, they will come out with a service notice on it eventually.

Re: LED lights in the door panels not turning on

Dealer called and they reconfigured the TIPM and the LED's are working. Very painless, I'm pleased with the dealer. They didn't give me any problem with this at all.

I read in your previous post that CC called your dealer? Is this correct?

I had mine in yesterday (see post above, even told them to reconfig TIPM) and after dark last night I used a mirror to look in door handles and map pocket because there is no illummination happening. When i used a mirror, I can see the barely lit LEDs. The mechanic who worked on it stated to me "they're on". I see they're on, but there is NO useable light coming from them; so now I'm faced with fighting the 'dim' problem? It should'nt be this hard, but if CC can call dealers, maybe they can help solve the issue?
