I have no problem buying from one of the online places since I'm sure it'll be a fine price, but it just seems odd that a dealer WOULDN'T want to sell an extended warranty!
I just signed for my warranty yesterday, I paid less then the chryslerwarranty site price but took some hardcore negotiating on a vehicle they wanted to move (the owners demo).
Regardless of what happens in the next 5, 10, or 15 years, I plan to drive at least 100k in the next 5. I typically have 3 cars and alternate vehicles to juggle the miles as the wife only drives about 5-7k a year and only keep them 2-3 years. In the past I've also only purchased Certified Pre-owned "luxury" vehicles so was covered typically 3 years and at least 50k miles. In all cases but the lexus sc430 I owned the extra warranty was a huge plus compared to the 2-3k difference in a non-CPO vehicle (not to mention CPO vehicles typically have new brakes, tires, and other wear items).
I have a need to be able to tow, quads/motorcycles, ect and have a daughter that will be turning 16 on my 5th anniversary (her 11th birthday was the 4th) of the jeep so I plan to have it at least 7-10 years. I purchased an overland and figure the heated/cooled seat, panoramic window or nav unit, hvac, power truck motor, ect will all be close to or over the $1600 I paid for the warranty when labor is included even if the 5.7 hemi is rock solid. I would not purchase the 0 deductible though since the price difference is almost $1500 and I'm crossing my fingers it wont take 15+ trips to fix any issues.
The dealer did warn me that they take the 5 year inspection seriously and they will not notify you. Fortunately for me I think I will remember on my daughters sweet 16 the jeep needs to be looked at, but I could see that being a potential issue. (I also added it to my google and outlook calendar, hopefully its still around by then).
