Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

Another question to pile on: my dealer said the warranty was no longer available. This really doesn't seem true based on the way that folks are talking and the sites that are selling them. So is it? Did some calendar year shift in policy happen?

I have no problem buying from one of the online places since I'm sure it'll be a fine price, but it just seems odd that a dealer WOULDN'T want to sell an extended warranty!

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

Thank you xjman and stubb for bumping the subject and getting this thread back on topic. While the issue of future vehicles and types of propulsion is fascinating, I feel this belongs in its own thread. Please don’t anyone take this the wrong way. I’m avidly following the information provided on future concepts, but would prefer to follow this outside the “lifetime extended warranty thread.”

Not true. Just placed an order yesterday with a dealer in my area who's including the Maxcare Plus Lifetime Warranty for $1,895.00!

I just signed for my warranty yesterday, I paid less then the chryslerwarranty site price but took some hardcore negotiating on a vehicle they wanted to move (the owners demo).

Regardless of what happens in the next 5, 10, or 15 years, I plan to drive at least 100k in the next 5. I typically have 3 cars and alternate vehicles to juggle the miles as the wife only drives about 5-7k a year and only keep them 2-3 years. In the past I've also only purchased Certified Pre-owned "luxury" vehicles so was covered typically 3 years and at least 50k miles. In all cases but the lexus sc430 I owned the extra warranty was a huge plus compared to the 2-3k difference in a non-CPO vehicle (not to mention CPO vehicles typically have new brakes, tires, and other wear items).

I have a need to be able to tow, quads/motorcycles, ect and have a daughter that will be turning 16 on my 5th anniversary (her 11th birthday was the 4th) of the jeep so I plan to have it at least 7-10 years. I purchased an overland and figure the heated/cooled seat, panoramic window or nav unit, hvac, power truck motor, ect will all be close to or over the $1600 I paid for the warranty when labor is included even if the 5.7 hemi is rock solid. I would not purchase the 0 deductible though since the price difference is almost $1500 and I'm crossing my fingers it wont take 15+ trips to fix any issues.

The dealer did warn me that they take the 5 year inspection seriously and they will not notify you. Fortunately for me I think I will remember on my daughters sweet 16 the jeep needs to be looked at, but I could see that being a potential issue. (I also added it to my google and outlook calendar, hopefully its still around by then).

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

Regarding deductibles...in my experience with a GMC service contract ( I assume they are all similar) each item that requires repair is treated separately so each will have it's own deductible...it's not a flat deductible each time you bring the car in to the shop. So if there are 8 things that need repair under the warranty and the deductible is $100/per, then you're looking at $800. Almost makes it worth paying extra upfront for a $0 deductible if available

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I had the Extended Warranty on my 98 GC and that was not the case.

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

How did it work? Just one deductible per visit?

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I did some digging into the new Chrysler warranties and yes the deductible is definietely per visit (like the plan Hollywood described)...so that is definitely a positive vs the experience i had with a GMC warranty

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I bought the warranty from chryslerwarrantys.com. While I've received the Contract application (unsigned by Bothun Chrylser Center in Wisconsin) that has a service contract number, I've yet to see it online. On the email correspondence I've received, it stated that it should have been viewable online the next day. I emailed them on Monday to inquire. I received a prompt response the same day and told to look by on Wednesday. It's now Friday and I still don't see it online. I've sent another email to them this morning and am awaiting a response. I'll keep you guys posted. I know others have used this company with no issue, but after a full week, I'm starting to become a bit anxious.

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

I've found that people seem to be a bit "suspicious" of the lifetime plan. Almost as if it were "too good to be true", and continue to look for the "fine print".

Fact is, it pretty much is what it says it is. IMO a GREAT DEAL. I have a feeling they're a bit behind on the paperwork / online thing, but once you have your contract number you're pretty much ready to rock 'n repair!

And yes, the deductible is "per visit".

Re: "Lifetime" Extended Warranty"???

Has the lifetime price gone up? Its showing up as $2,204 for maxcare. I know usually if you wait you'll get an e-mail with about a ~200 coupon however weren't people saying 1900?
